Vagifem uti infections
Just this week..I was prescribed the pessaries after I was seen re urinary frequency, and ‘relaxed vaginal muscle’
I’ve had Breast Cancer..but it was still prescribed. I’ve decided not to take it.
its a localised estrogen, so goes only where its needed, its been an absolute help for me, I have vaginal atrophy,(menopause), it started with a uti, vagifem takes about three months to see a differnce, if you dont like the pesseries try the ovestin estrogen cream.
I started 2 weeks ago on the suppositories I have to take one every day for 4 weeks then 1 twice a week after. Everything seems ok so far , I do get mild period like pain but that’s all. No uti yet so that’s good. I’m two years into the menopause
Hi I am using Vagifem for reoccurring Uti I am 68 and it is very low dose and very safe. It has helped me greatly and I intend to keep using it. I also take oral Hrt tablet to help me live a better quality of life the benefits outweigh the risks for me. Hope this helps and I wish you well.x
I'm now 72. I was prescribed a vaginal oestrogen back in about 2010, called something like Gynest. It was messy, but worked! When it became out of stock for a while I was given Vagifem (not messy!) but it didn't work at all for me.
Now been on Ovestin for years and it's great (not really messy either!) It's a topical not a systemic type oestrogen, and doesn't cause problems like HRT tablets. I had Stage 1 breast cancer so was taken off my HRT patches, in 2018, but I'm allowed this.
Hi I was put on vagifem for uti's and urinary urgency. I have been fine on it over approx 6 months but perhaps contributing to itching or yeast issues. Interestingly I also have a fib so dont know if connection as Cardiologist said that a fib causes increased trips to the loo.
