Recurrent vaginal thrush- need urgent help

I had what looks like a vaginal thrush for the first time 3 weeks back. I'm 35 yrs old. My GP nurse saw me and suggested Canesten pessary. I took it but to no avail (also the pessary did not work properly) I went back to the doctor in 2 days and she suggested Flucanazole oral tabled (150 mg 1 dose) that give relief for a day or so but then again the following week my thrush came back. I'm having discharge with no smell and intense itching. In the second week I took another flucanazole but to no avail. This time (3rd week) the nurse did a vaginal swab to check for microbial infection but the results are due. I work long hours and feel extremely uncomfortable. I have tried doing the candida cleanse diet, eating yogurt, wearing cotton underwear everything but to no avail. I'm in so much pain and discomfort and it's going to be week 4 next week. The nurse had said it might be bacterial vaginosis but can't be sure without the results. Can someone help please?

I’ve had repeated thrush myself…and can empathise.

Obviously only a specific test will rule out Bacterial Vaginosis ..I hope you get results asap…and if necessary have effective treatment.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by a change in the natural balance of bacteria in your vagina.

Try Boric Acid suppositories they do really work well. Hope you feel better soon. X

Boric acid may be helpful for resistant or recurrent vaginal infections when combined with a prescription antifungal or antibiotic.

Thank you so much ladies for your help. I had to finally seek help from a gynaecologist in a private gp. So the doc has given me doxycycline 100mg twice for 7 days, flucanazole 1 capsule to be taken every 72 hours for 3 doses and clindamycin cream. Fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Also ask to see a dermatologist. My lichen sclerosis went misdiagnosed for years with disastrous results.
