Abnormal blood clot during period

Hi. Please see the images attached. I had awful cramping pains which woke me up from my sleep. The next day I had these huge… clots?

I went to the Doctor today, and they thought it was a miscarriage. HOWEVER, this is Impossible as I haven’t had sexual inter cause or any form of relation in 2 years.

The doctor was stumped, all she said was that this isn’t a ‘clot’ and it isn’t normal. I do experience heavy periods and normal clots usually but has anyone ever seen anything like this? Or can tell me what it is?

I had something similar..but it was actually a miscarriage.

🤔If your doctor said it isn’t normal, and she doesn’t know what it is..it isn’t unreasonable to ask her to refer you for further investigation.

Hi there.

Impossible in my case for miscarriage due to never having intercourse. I’ve been referred for a blood test for anemia and then to gynaecology.

I’m so sorry that you’ve had these. My daughter has these clots too, although they are smaller. She has been seen by a gynaecologist who has dismissed them because of her age (17) and lack of sexual relations. Blood tests have come back normal too. You kind have to wonder what more can be done…

Wow. So they aren’t sure what caused this? Does she also have heavy periods and bad cramps? I’ve never had these before and I’m 23. I’m used to heavy periods and blood clots but never this. I wonder if my referral to gynaecology is going to be a waste of time.

Yes, she does. I’m sure it won’t be a waste of time. If you’re worried about anything then a referral is NEVER a waste of time. That’s what they are there for. My daughter won’t do anything about it now, because she only gets small - tiny - ones in comparison to yours, but still.

Hi there, as another person said, if you are worried about this (which you are) and your doctor can't give you an explanation, you need to get a second opinion. I've always had v heavy periods with big clots/tissue masses, but not to the same degree as in your picture. Try your best to follow this up 😘😘

This looks like what is called a deciduous cast. It's when the uterine lining comes off in one large piece.

It is rare, but not usually cause for worry unless you're pregnant. If you Google decidual cast or uterine cast, you'll find a ton of good information.

I get these but I have CFS ME which has made my body odd in that my hormones are out and I take hrt and I'm only 42 or my periods would have stopped. But I get mess all over my sheets and clots and pain , I just manage it now with good diet hrt which is also available no prescription as it's just hormones Wellspring and just instinct don't be afraid if u worried about cancer look up heavy clots in period what does it mean Google or search engine ....
