Levothyroxine dose

Hi all

I started on 25mg of Levothyroxine due to a TSH level of 6.8. My dosage was changed to 50mg and my level is now 0.61

I have now had my dose changed ( at my request) to 75mg to push me futher into the "normal" bracket.

Does any one know how long i should wait till i blood test again to check how this is working.

Im new to this condition and im struggling. Im finding it hard to maintain my weight and feel so heavy .

Is this normal .....please help !

It’s no good dosing by TSH, you need to look at T4 and T3 levels as they are the important ones.

Testing after a dose change should be 6-8 weeks. I suggest you post on Thyroiduk forum as you will get more help.

it’s normal I’m on 100 mg dose and my weight still fluctuates a lot. When I lose weight I have to be super strict and stick to the diet but it’s worth it to help with my confidence levels. There are so many things that can affect you with thyroid that sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s normal and what’s not. I have an annual well women checkup which includes blood test for thyroid, along with liver, kidney and lung function. This works for me. Go back to your GP and request a full check up even if it’s the nurse that does it, it would be worth it for peace of mind.

hi ..thank you for your message . Im struggling to maintain a desired weight too. Im quiet fit but even though i exercise daily i just cant shift my extra weight . Im trying not to get too down about it but its not easy
