Hi I’m totally at a loose end my neck at the front is totally on fire and itching beyond belief I literally want to tear the skin off. It’s been like this on and off for about a week. Menopause 🤷‍♀️

Hi Junkjournal1, I'm not sure what this is and not had it or heard anyone talk about this as pre menopause symptoms.

I did have this in my late 20's and couldn't get a gp appointment for weeks. It really scared me and I didn't know what to do as there were no spots, no puckering of the skin, no rashes, no redness and no pain. Just an annoying continuous itch.

One morning whilst I washed my face it started again. I just wet my face cloth and gave it a good scrub, then gently applied cream to the front and back. It took another few weeks of this but it eventually stopped.

To this day I still clean my neck, sometimes twice a day and cream it too. At the time my mum convinced me that it was some kind of bug I had on my skin due to lending coats and scarves to friends. Needless to say that practice was knocked on the head.

Do you have any thickening of the skin? Is the skin inflamed at all? Have you actually cut your skin due to scratching it? Is it the skin outside, or inside your neck that causes you to scratch your skin?Either way I'd go to see a pharmacist if you cannot see a gp soon for this issue. Hope you get some help soo. Please let us know how you get on 😍

I've found that Eucerin Roughness Relief lotion is very good for itch - not for immediate symptom relief, but it seems to affect the underlying problem over time (~ a week of daily application). Note this is a particular formula, not basic Eucerin lotion (the ingredient list reads like a workout supplement). I would patch test it first. The Roughness Relief product is available in the US, don't know about elsewhere. There is a another Eucerin facial skin product - Eucerin Aquaporin Active - that I have imported from Europe that also contains one of the main ingredients (Glyceryl Glucoside); it's good, but I think I prefer the Roughness Relief.

Oral magnesium and fish oil supplementation may help (has to do with TRP channel function).

It's been a while since I had bad itch so I can't remember what, if anything, helped with immediate symptom relief (except for Eucrisa for eczema, that works pretty quickly but is very expensive and requires an Rx ).
