I was prescribed Betacap scalp application 0.1% w/w cutaneous solution betamethasone (as Bethamethasone valerate) by a GP many years ago and it works well. I don’t know if it has any harmful side effects so if you are considering it best to ask your dermatologist. I only need to use it sparingly as it is very effective.
I am also careful which hair products I use. The Faith in Nature range is currently the one I prefer for both shampoo and conditioner. Hair oils can also be a problem as they can cause intense itch. Again I have had to experiment to see what works for me.
When the itching is really bad I use OTC antihistamines but try not to do this as it can be harmful to kidneys and I have chronic kidney disease.
I haven’t yet experimented with diet as I have read itching may be due to histamine intolerance.
I had this same problem try Nizoral shampoo it really does help rub it into your scalp wash it off and use your normal shampoo. Sulphate free shampoo is best and make sure you rinse hair thoroughly. Hope this helps.x
How often do you use it as don’t want to rely on steroid medication. so you use it and regular shampoo afterwards as u thought that would defeat the purpose as i have selson blue but think i will return it what you use Looking forward ti talking to you again
I only use it when my scalp is sore I didn't realise Nizoral was steroid because I don't get it on prescription I buy it over the counter or Amazon. I use it on my scalp lather it up and rinse off thoroughly then I use normal shampoo twice rinse, then use a conditioner but only on the back and ends of my hair. I find the dearer shampoos cause me more problems so I am using Herbal Esennse Sulphate Free it isn't expensive but suits me better. Hope this helps.x
