Coming of the pill and straight on to HRT

I’m coming off the pill next week & starting HRT. I’m going with Evorel 100 patch & Utrogestan 100. I tried to do this 4 months ago & was on the Evorel 50 patch. I felt terrible & had awful side effects. I went back on the pill. I’m now going to try again as I’m 52 & can’t stay on the pill. I’m considering taking the Utrogestan virginally to prevent any unpleasant side effects. I will be on constant HRT as I don’t want periods. So do I take the Utrogestan every other night if I use it virginally? Anyone else gone straight to HRT from the pill & was it ok?

Hi, I haven't been on the pill but I have been taking HRT for a year. I am 50 and sadly still having periods so have been told to use an oestrogen gel daily and utrogestan from days 15-26 of a 28 day cycle. I find the progesterone plays havoc with my mood and anxiety but it's worth it for the help from oestrogen. Wish you all the best 💛

You should look up Dr Newson she is a menopause specialist, she has lots of info on her website that can help you. What I have read is that if you take vaginally you get less side affects, I’m using Everol patches, first week and just slight nausea.
