I just found out that I am HPV positive. Should I be concerned? What do I do? Will it go away? I don’t know much about it at all. Does anyone else here have it?

HPV POSITIVE
Hello.I was told I was hpv positive around 2 years ago. My cells were normal. There wasn’t much information I was given, which wasn’t reassuring. However, most women at some point in their lifetime will have contract hpv. It isn’t a type of STD. More often than not the hpv will clear itself. I had a repeat smear the next year and mine was negative. Hope this reassures you
Although not a recognised STD, it can be transmitted by oral sex. Many cases of oral cancer contain HPV. Although not particularly prevalent in the UK at the moment, in a number of East European countries the cases in men are increasing. There is a strong case for boys as well as girls to receive the HPV vaccine.
Hi there, it isn’t something to be too worried about. Apparently a lot of people have HPV and it is really common. The only thing to look out for is genital warts. If you find them, you can have cryotherapy to have them frozen off. They’re not dangerous, just annoying. Not everyone with HPV gets warts... I was just unfortunate. I hope you are ok. If you have any questions, feel free to message me- Best wishes.
