Infection from coil fitting

Hi has anyone here had the copper coil fitted and actually got an infection from the procedure?

I recently got the coil put in and been in agony that no painkillers were shifting it and it was getting worse. I’m now on antibiotics for the infection and I’m just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

I have a copper coil and have previously had 3 marina coils. I've never had an infection from any of them so from my limited experience this sounds rare and you've been very unlucky.

First time I had a coil fitted (nearly 20 years ago) they did a test to ensure I didn't have an undiagnosed vaginal infection which could be introduced to the womb during insertion, I've never had that on any other fitting so I'm guessing they don't do that any more. I guess it could be possible that this is what happened to you, but I'm just guessing.
