Nipple issues

Hello,

Sorry if this is tmi, but I’ve been having problems with my nipples. I want to point out i have seen a doctor who examined me and said i have nothing to worry about and that “it’s probably hormones”. Just to say as well i am 30 and from the U.K and not pregnant nor have i ever been.

So my problems started just over a month ago, i started to get an itchy nipple (left) then i had a red mark come up on the right - that’s now gone and no more itchiness. Both were seen by doctor and i also started to get very small flakes on my nipple. Now i have one of the little bumps around the nipple flaking too, i know this is minimal and the doctor has said it’s fine but i don’t have much faith in them from past experiences.

Does anyone else have this? Is it a hormonal thing? My skin generally is itchy in other places too like my thighs and back, and i was tested for allergies a year ago with nothing major coming up other than allergies to dust-mites and dander.

Maybe I’m being too over sensitive and i should just leave it but I’ve also been putting canesten on it for two weeks nearly with no improvement really that i can see.

Try ditching the Canestan (which can make things worse!) and try an unscented moisturiser instead.

I have had something like what you described.

I was freaking out.

I ended up changing my clothes detergent and added an extra rinse to make sure no remains of soap would be left.

Then, the dr prescribed canesten in case it would be some sort of fungus.

I continue to have flakey skin and some itch.

Another doc told me I had eczema and prescribed Bepanthen ointment, for baby’s diaper rash.

It makes a protective coat of provitamins in the skin...problem solved for me.

I hope this helps for you.

Oh really, I’ve tried caneston and i do think that made it worse, now I’m onto E45 and i think it seems slightly better. I’m back to doctors next week so i want to leave off the E45 to see how it is without cream.

I think it’s hormones but it’s not as bad as it was, it fluctuates.

In case anyone reads this in the future i had an appointment yesterday about this issue, it’s fine. I would obviously say if you have similar get it checked but in my case it’s hormonal and now the norm for me.
