Hi everyone I am 19, nearly 20 and suffer from hot flushes, night sweats, dizziness/lightheadedness, sore breasts/armpits, anger, irritability, mood swings, difficuly concentrating, shortness of breath. I have suffered with most of these symptoms for the past 5/6 years - back when I was at school.

I had a private blood test to check my hormone levels on Monday (day 4 of my period). My oestradiol level seems very low to me based on the range.

It was 53.5pmol/L and the range is 45.4 - 854.

My main concern with this is that I didn't feel too bad besides slightly dizzy when I had the test done. I usually feel much worse in the luteal phase of my cycle which causes me to wonder whether the level at that point would actually be out of the range.

My periods are very regular and I also suffer from mittelschmerz (ovulation pain) around day 14 of my cycle.

Another concern is that this could mean that I may not be able to have children in the future and could potentially be signs of an early menopause or a pituitary problem.

Also, my testosterone level is high and I'm not too sure what could cause this.

Below are all of my results along with the ranges:

SHBG range: 32.4 - 128nmol/L.

My result: 47.1nmol/L.

TSH range: 0.27 - 4.2mIu/L

My result: 2.34mIu/L

Free Thyroxine range: 12 - 22pmol/L

My result: 12.8pmol/L

FSH range: 3.5 - 12.5IU/L

My result: 5.71IU/L

LH range: 2.4 - 12.6IU/L

My result: 4.79IU/L

Oestradiol range: 45.4 - 854pmol/L

My result: 53.5pmol/L

Testosterone range: 0.29 - 1.67nmol/L

My result: 1.86nmol/L

Free Androgen Index range: 0.2 - 7.1

My result: 3.95

Prolactin range: 102 - 496mU/L

My result: 491 mU/L.

Thanks

It's important that you note what day in your cycle your blood test was taken. I think Estrogen is lowest around 3 days into your new cycle, and a level like yours may be fine if that's when it was taken.

Have you tested progesterone at all? As the ratio of estrogen to progesterone is the most important thing. Progesterone needs to be a separate test taken 7 days before your next period.

Once you know your ratio, you can investigate whether you have estrogen or progesterone dominance going on.
