Lost threads with Mirena Coil

Hey, hoping someone can put my mind at ease!

I had a Mirena Coil fitted 3rd Jan 2020 and a few days after having it put it I checked for the threads but couldn’t feel them, I was advised to to just be patient with it as things were still settling down. Anyway, almost 4 months later and I still can’t find my threads! Is this normal?

Apart from that though, I love the coil! It’s stopped my periods and cramps and now I just get a bit of spotting every now and again!

🤔 It’s probably advisable to speak to your GP, or the person who fitted the coil.

If the IUD or the IUD strings are not visible (or can't be felt), full expulsion may have taken place. 3 If this happens, and you don't have a backup method of birth control, you are no longer being protected against pregnancy.13 Jul 2019

If you still can't feel them please go to gp, try not to panic though as sometimes they cut them ridiculously short (they did with me anyway) that made it so hard to feel them. Or like wobbly said it could be expulsion.. Good luck :) xx
