I was previously on the progestogen-only pill (mini pill) but only took it for one month and I was wondering if anyone knows what common side effects of doing this are? I can only find information online about coming off the pill after taking it for a long time.
My period is late but I haven't had sex since stopping taking the pill and I'm wondering if the irregular periods can continue after stopping taking it? With lockdown and living somewhere quite rural it would be difficult to get a pregnancy test.
Any help really appreciated

It would always take a little while for your period to return to normal after coming off the pill, even if you were only on it for a month. You might find some prenatal vitamins are helpful for getting your cycle to settle down. Although you're not aiming to get pregnant, the pill can stop you from absorbing certain minerals, and these imbalances can throw your period out too. A prenatal vitamin has everything you'd need to get back up to scratch.
It is entirely normal for your cycle to be affected after taking the mini pill even if you’ve taken it for just for one month however I wouldn’t Expect your cycle to be irregular for much more than a few months considering you only took the pill for a very short time.
Common side effects of the pop (progesterone only pill) are acne, low mood, breast tenderness, and unscheduled vaginal bleeding. To be honest I would be surprised if you had any of the Side effects other than irregular bleeding because you were on it such a short amount of time. It is very common for irregular bleeding to occur for the first 3-6 months after starting the pop- your GP should have counselled you on this before starting the treatment as it is so common.
If you’ve been taking the pop regular as you should and at roughly the same time of day I would doubt you are pregnant- the only way you could be pregnant is if you had unprotected sex in the 7 days prior to stopping the pill- as sperm can hang around for 7 days in the female reproductive tract so if that’s occurred I would do a pregnancy test but leave it 3 weeks since the date you had sex.
