my doctor prescribed me with Laxido a week ago which I’ve been taking 2 times a day for a week. They prescribed it me because it seemed I had constipation. I have since pooed atleast once a day and at first it was hard stool which would possibly confirm I had constipation, but as time has gone on, My stool has became more and more loose. She prescribed it me to try and clear out the constipation and see how I am. Now I’ve taken it for a week and my stool is stringy looking and looser than it was originally, I don’t know whether I should reduce the dose or stop taking it, I can’t decide whether I am still constipated or whether since having these stools, the constipation has resolved. Should I reduce the dose to once a day or just stop and see how I go?

Taking laxido for suspected constipation.
Most people experience stringy poop at least once. In most cases, the outlook is good. When the condition is sporadic and you do not have other symptoms, it’s likely nothing to worry about and should resolve on its own within a short period of time.
When stringy poop is caused by a serious condition, your outlook depends on how quickly you receive care and the extent of the damage. In many cases, dietary changes, medication, surgery, and good aftercare successfully resolves symptoms.
When it comes to poop, the important thing is for you to know what is normal for you. If you’ve never had stringy poop before and suddenly have it regularly, contact your doctor.
You need to ask your doctor if you can stop or not.
How are you supposed to be taking them for?
ask your pharmacist. I'd imagine it would be good to at least half the dose or stop taking these after a few days and regular bowel movements have been achieved.
Hi Lilacbee, i was prescribed the same when i had constipation after having an Operation, i took Laxido until i cleared what was stuck, then i stopped taking it to wait for a regular motion to happen. Always go back to your GP if you're not sure or seek advice from a pharmacist. Good luck
Hi laxido just adds water to your poo making it softer and easier to pass. I have been told this by several medical professionals.
Laxido Orange is a laxative for the treatment of constipation and faecal impaction in adults, children (aged 12 years and above) and the elderly. The usual dose for constipation is one sachet taken one to three times daily. The usual dose for faecal impaction is eight sachets daily.
I was given laxido for constipation when not 'been' for 3 weeks. It certainly worked, but like you it started over working. I try to drink my 1.5 litres of water a day and plenty of fruit and green veg. My GP then gave me Lactulose 15ml 2x a day. I now take that as needed. I have Diverticular disease of colon for 30 yrs but at moment my bowels are working though no regular pattern. I am over 80 yrs so accept the body gets a bit worn out and have to accept things don't always happen as they used to. I find every one is different. You find your own triggers in food and exercise and find out what works best for you. Good Luck.
oh my word, i had been presribed 6 full boxes by my gp, with several underlying gynae issues. Cysts, fibroids, endo, painful periods, heavy periods every 2 weeks, dounle tubal ligation years ago and im 45. What feels like an uphill battle to get my hysterectomy. I now have a positive HPV smear with a large number of female maternal members having had cervical cancer. Im now on mefenamic acid for the pain, reflux meds and back on zolodex injection to try and help bring me back on track!!
I so feel all your pain and after 14 years of pain and ops/investigations ive had enough and now impacts my daily life. Working in the NHS i do understand the pressures but for me as an individual its hard.
