Hi, I’m new here! I’ve been perimenopausal for almost 3 years (irregular periods, hot flashes and fatigue being the main symptoms). I saw my GP last week who prescribed Everol Sequi, but as they’re unavailable then changed the prescription to Estradot patches (along with progesterone tablets). The Estradot leaflet says though that ‘Estradot is used in postmenopausal women with at least 12 months since their last natural period’. So I am confused and haven’t started them yet. Also unsure whether I should be taking the progesterone 1 per day for days 1 to 25 (as per instructions on the box) or 2 per day for days 15 to 26 (as per instruction leaflet). Any advice appreciated please.

Estradot for perimenopause?
Hello advoash. The best way for you to double-check is to call your GP surgery and ask them to get your GP, or another one on duty to call you back and go through the prescription again.
I don't have a clue why they say Estradot is for postmenopausal women, as I am not. It was prescribed to me by a private consultant. I am on Estradot and progesterone as well but with a different prescription, as I would guess I am much further than yourself into perimenopause. I am normally super extra sensitive to any medication side effects (I could never tolerate any contraceptive pills, for instance) but I was pleasantly surprised with Estradot and progesterone, I have to say. My hot flushes were gone within 3 days. The main advantage I have found with this was for my sleep: OMG! I can sleep again! That is now that I realise that I must have been perimenopausal for a good 10 years because that is the length of time since I've had decent sleeps. I had totally forgotten what it was to sleep through the night! On the first night after I've taken the progesterone I fell asleep like a baby.
I do feel tired though, but not tired like with sleeping pills or anti-depressants, for example. As far as I know, Estradot is plant-based, so not too nasty for your body.
At your place (but I am not, am I?), I would start with both and then try to contact your GP during the week.
Good luck!
