I’m looking for advice really, before I see my GP as i’m always hesitant to go regarding issues like this
I had the contraceptive implant fitted in the middle of last August and I had it taken out in February due to mood, weight gain and skin related problems. I thought having it taken out would end my suffering but it’s just been worse since.
I haven’t had a period since it was removed and didn’t have a period while I had the implant (except from the first month). I’ve been having vaginal dryness, mood changes, weight gain and a few other symptoms that might not be connected but not sure. I am not pregnant, i’ve done many tests to be sure and also not very sexually active at my age even with a boyfriend (sorry for tmi).
I’m concerned I may have PCOS or perhaps even premature menopause (im 17). Please any information would be great. The implant was my first form of hormonal contraception. Also had high blood pressure whilst on it.
Please any information would be appreciated, very worried and feel scared.

Hello Sweetkitten
Seek help from a doctor sometimes hormones take a while to settle down . Try not to worry yourself too much you can get treated for hormonal imbalances . Take care x
I was having a conversation with some friend's last night about the symptoms that came on when we all stopped the pill. Unfortunately we all had some pretty awful side effects that have carried on, 2 ended up going back on contraceptives because the side-effects of coming off were so bad, I've stated off it, but still have side-effects 10 years on (I'm not meaning to scare you with this, I'm just making you aware this is the case).
I heard a brief discussion in a podcast about something holistic practicers in the US call "post birth-control syndrome" and I'd suggest reading up on it.
Do you have a female GP at your surgery, or a drop in contraceptive/sexual health/GUM clinic you could visit?
If you do have any health issues that were triggered by the implant, it's important to have these investigated sooner rather than later, just in case something serious develops. It could be that the hormones in the contraceptive are taking a long time to work their way out of your body, or that they've had a cascade effect & caused a reaction. Anything I could suggest as cause & effect is just guesswork, so best you see a gynacologist or medical professional as soon as you can. Soonest looked at, soonest mended.
Thank you for your reply and advice, I’m currently in the process of changing surgeries as mine had long wait lists. I will see if there’s a female at my new surgery. Again, thanks for replying
