This site is a good start look through the 12 week programme - you don't have to start calorie reduction and exercise in one hit take it gradually if its easier Good Luck

Great to hear, 12 stone is a big target (mine is 11stone 12pounds) breaking it into smaller might help, so start with 14 stones and go from there
I am sure you will have to work out what works for you. The equations is simple. It's about take out more energy then you put in. You have to measure it. I found myfitnesspal useful for that. I understand you should aim to loose between 1 and 2 pounds per week. Stick with it, it's worth it. Good luck
good luck.
Start by taking one day at a time to take the pressure off.
We all know what we should be eating and doing, but lack the motivation to start.
So look for it. Find an event to aim for or find someone you find inspirational. This could simply be a dress you love and want to fit back into, or a person on here who is achieving results.
Hang up the event ticket, dress, photo as a reminder of what you will be in the future. Then start with small achievable goals, like a 20 minute walk every day.
Stock up on nutritional low cal foods, include plenty of natural, unprocessed food. You know your food weaknesses, so don't buy that junk anymore. Be firm with yourself and be exact about what treats you will have, how often and when. It is totally possible to lose your taste for unhealthy foods.
Keep checking into this website and pick out what you need most at that time. Or start your own blog, it always helps to know others are having success, or sometimes struggling like you. Every day you successfully complete in your new healthy lifestyle will spur you on and all the time you will be reinforcing new habits.
Most importantly, if you fall off the wagon, get right back on it the next day. Good luck.
HI there, I guess this will be the first day of your diet so good luck. Here are a few tips which may help: if you drink a lot of full fat fizzy drinks try drinking diluted juice or diet alternatives. I did that only for one week and lost 4 pounds. I recommend 7up zero as it tastes like the full fat stuff. Find some activity that you enjoy doing rather than the gym etc if your not into that or too self conscious. For example, cleanning gardening and walking all get you moving so if you are not active to begin with, it will have the desired results. Even if its just walking to the shops instead of driving or getting off the bus one stop early each way. I find that putting some motivational songs on an ipod also helps. If you, like me, love your food but want low cal alternatives that are not the same salad every day Rosemary Connelly's Diet and Fitness Magazine and Slimming World's magazine provide loads of delicious recipes, often on a budget, you can even have burgers and chips, pasta and curries and even desserts on them. Also, take control of the shopping and the cooking and always have some helathy snacks on you when your out and about incase you feel peckish, that way you won't pop into greggs
The most important advice I would give you is treat yourself, whether it be a new outfit every half stone lost or a takeaway once a week that way you do not feel deprived of anything.
Mak this a lifestyle change rather than a diet, good luck and keep us all posted on your success.
Personally, I did a lot of research on the Web, then I changed my diet, dropped my Calorie intake and made a rule to exercise every day. I’m now on day 102 and have lost 17 kg. QED.

I am from the United States so I am not sure what stone means but I understand obese. I am obese. I weigh 252 pounds and aim for 152. we can do this if we help each other. we just have to take one day at a time.
