Hi im greedyguts im 60yrs old and 5ft 2ins my weight is 11stone my bmi is 28 . I exercise 4 to 5 times a week i have knee problems too and i know its my weight, i eat healthly but i like my wine and that is not helping with my weight i know i should be about 9stone 7pounds Help.

Hi GG (I couldn't bring myself to call you greedy guts!)

I suspect there are other members who will be able to help you much more than me, because I rarely drink, food is my Achilles heel :)

How about challenging yourself to 30 days dry ie no wine. It probably sounds impossible, but I'm sure others on this site have managed it.

Make sure you get rid of any wine you have in the house though, it could be a temptation too far :)

Hi I'm in similar situation. Gave up alcohol 1st September, and will do Stoptober, the Macmillan one in October. I did it last year and found they really gave lots of support on a regular basis. I love wine but it just makes me eat more so have decided to give it a rest for a while.

I have knee problems, I walk and am doing weight circuits, what do you do at the gym?

I do classes like body attack, gritt, body pump,legs bums and tums .

Hi you say you exercise 4 to 5 times a week but do you get out of breath, I lost weight by sprinting occasionally while out jogging, If your knee's are iffy you could try push ups, try getting out of breath for about 30 seconds per day but don't over do it.

It's so darn difficult exercising when things hurt so much. My knees can be hellish, hips too... especially when I'm tired. Yesterday I could no more have exercised than flown, but after a good night's sleep I feel more constructive... trouble is finding the time to do it. Briskly walking to work every day is my immediate goal. I'm going on a special holiday next Spring and I would just so LOVE not to look like a hippopotamus in my swimsuit.
