Hi. That must be very frustrating for you both! Been there so know the feeling. You have done amazing to stick at it for 8 weeks without weightloss to motivate you.

My most recent attempt at weightloss taught me how unreliable the scales are! It is just a number. One that does not measure fat loss. It measures overall weight which includes so many things (blood, fluid, muscle, fat, bone) and fluctuates wildly over the course of the day.

When I was doing Slimpod I lost not a single pound in weight over the first 5 to 6 weeks. BUT I lost 2 inches off my thighs and waist. So I recommend you both take some body measurements and only weigh once a month. Also note how you feel in your clothes. If you have something that is too tight now, use it as a benchmark to see if you can fit in it in a few weeks time.

You say you have cut down on eating and drinking. Are you eating a fairly healthy diet? Stick to foods that are wholesome and natural as much as you can. Cut out processed foods. If they have weird sounding things on the ingredients label then its not a natural food. This can include yoghurts which sound healthy but actually have a lot of junk added to them.

However it is important to not feel like you are giving up anything you love. If you enjoy pasta meals, for example, only have a fistful size portion. Then bulk your plate with vegetables. If your used to cooking a certain size meal, halve what you serve and freeze the rest. I love doing this as it means I can have non-cooking days and use them like a ready meal.

If your thing is wine or chocolate, cut back more than out. Unless you feel once you start you cant stop. You are very lucky your husband is doing this with you! You can both support eachother!

If you eat out you can get one meal and ask for an extra plate to share. Half the size meal and half the cost (bonus!). My mum and I do that every week.

I also believe you have to be happy to lose weight - not lose weight to be happy. So enjoy each other and life! Dont make it all about dieting!

I have realised as I get older - I am 63 that weight is harder to shift . I have found it difficult without exercise as the min I stop swimming , walking and Zumba - my diet doesn't change that radically too then the weight piles on - weekend away in the winter last year - no cooked breakfast , lightish lunch and watched the evening meal but rained in so I was sluggish = 5lb increase . I trained to run 10k but have ditched that as had a really bad impact on my feet and knees but consistent exercise - something you can stick at really helps then the odd coffee out and glass of wine doesn't usually pile on the pounds .

Not what you're looking for?
