A little of my weight loss journey. Last August with my birthday looming (over 40) I looked at myself and thought something needed to be done. My BMI was 32.8 and I was piling on the pounds. I'd always kept reasonably fit through horse riding but there was no doubt my overall fitness was waning. I embarked on Slimming World. To cut a long story short, I have lost 4 stone 2 lbs and have a BMI of 24. I run most days, do a Zumba class and the horse certainly can tell the difference. Most importantly my relationship with food has changed. No longer do I reach for crisps and chocolate. It's more likely to be a banana, or handful of raspberries. I feel fab! If you don't think you can lose weight - honestly you can! I never thought it would happen for me. The only person that can make the change is you! A cliche but one I've learned these past 9 months.

You look great, thanks for sharing!
You look fabulous. I look at you and see your attitude and can start to believe that it could be possible. Well done xx
Well done kesmcg! What a transformation and yes, I'm sure your horse must be pleased, too! What a wonderful, positive message to post, I'm sure it'll prove inspirational to so many people who follow this forum. The challenge now will be to maintain your weight at it's current level, but if you keep up your zumba class etc, you're on a winner!
I've only got a few pounds left before reaching my target weight. Hope I end up looking just as sylph-like.
I have realised whilst on this 12 week NHS plan that dieting is about so much more than watching calories for a few weeks. You really have got to change your mindset around the subject of food, healthy eating and exercise. It means making whole lifestyle changes. But SO worth it! Thanks kesmcg for your lovely post!
I also do a mini victory dance every time I make good choices with food. That includes treats that I have planned for.
Haha! brilliant idea! Do you use a fitness tracker or pedometer? I bought an Omron step counter a while back and find it helps to keep up my exercise levels. The healthy food bit is probably the most difficult aspect of weight loss for me as I've always been hopeless (or perhaps just downright lazy?) at cooking. Learning to make a lot more of my own, healthy-choice meals now though, and I really think that's going to help me keep the weight off long term.
I use couch to 5k app. I make a date with myself every night too cook no matter how busy. I just tell myself I have the right to healthy home cooked food! Seems to work. Salmon and savoury rice this evening. Takes 20 mins max.
Love this-cooking date with self. I cook healthy food each evening but might just put more of a swagger in my step today.
Absolutely fabulous results kesmcg , Thanks for sharing.
Great post, what a difference 4 stone makes. That's 8 months of dedication and well worth it, very inspiring for someone like me just starting out.
WOW! what a difference - it really is about a change of head set - reaching for food that does you good not empty calories...
