Hey there, I just joined but I'm on my way to loosing weight. I used to be a massive 21.10 stone. Currently I'm at 19.9 stone and know I need to keep going. I'm doing exercise and just barely eating over 1,000 calories. I struggle eating foods I used to as my stomach has shrunk and my clothes sizes are radically changing.

I have never felt so better about myself as a result. I hope this will inspire others that it is possible to make the life changes you want to - even though if involves, unfortunately, a lot of hard work!

Hi SoftBandit

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Well done on losing 2st 1lb that is fantastic going would you like a 2st badge to celebrate your achievement so far? 1,000 calories is really low can I suggest you use the BMI checker to work out your daily calories.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Evening Rose,

Thank you for the lovely offer! I don't mind too much about the badge, only if you wish and have the time to spare then I'd be very grateful. I agree 1,000 calories is too small, I am trying to push this up to 1,400 which is recommended for me.

I will join in the events, I'll have a proper look around tomorrow morning when I am bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Thank you for your comment

Hi SoftBandit and well done on your weight loss so far. Very impressive.

That 1400 calories is probably the generic number supplied for the average person.

If you run the BMI calculator it will provide you with a calorie intake, tailored to your gender, height, activity level etc... You may find that number for you to be higher.

One of the tricks to making our journey sustainable is to make it as pleasant as possible and as close to how we'd like our lives to be when we reach our goals. This will make it more likely to maintain our lifestyle change.

Hi, well done so far. Keep going. You aren't eating much though so I would agree you need to check your calories. Don't eat too little or weight loss will slow down or even stop. Good luck for your continued success!!

Hello there Ella!

Thank you for your post. I totally agree. I just find that Im struggling to eat such big meals such as dinner so I'm trying to stabilise my diet so I eat less at dinner but more at lunch and breakfast. My recommended intake is 1,400 and I will try to eat more. Good luck to you on being healthy as well :)
