New here! :)
Hi Lorarogers18 Welcome to the group. I don’t know much about Atkins diet but have seen some good results from it. Your shopping list is a great idea fill your store cupboards with only things you want to eat on your plan. Focus on your goal and tell yourself every day I can do this sometimes it’s a head challenge as well as an eating challenge. Good luck.

Hi! thank you for the welcome! How do I weigh in? Do I just make a post about it?
Hi Lorarogers, welcome aboard.
I can't think of any members who follow the Atkins diet but there are a lot of us who follow a low carb, high fat way of eating. As I understand it, there are similarities but Atkins relies on a lot of protein whereas LCHF starts from leafy, above ground veg, adding in protein of your choice and being relaxed about healthy fats in cooking and with your protein.
It might be more manageable for you, and cheaper as it doesn't require as much meat as Atkins goes for. This is a good introduction dietdoctor.com/low-carb
I'll second what Gizmocat said and encourage you yo find your way around the forum and join in with activities. It's the interaction that sets this place apart
Thanks for the link to Diet Doctor videos. The one discovery I made he is talking about net carbs, not carbs. So myfitnesspal usually counts carbs. An avocado is 8%, whereas net carbs are 2%. Explains why I struggled to get my carbs low. I tried 130g, but that was gross carbs not net. Have been losing weight though, quite steadily! I guess I would need to get a list.
Yes, you're right
I don't use mfp routinely but I write a recipe (which I only do if I'm adding it somewhere on the forum, like Springers Specials healthunlocked.com/weight-l... ) then the Nutrition Facts show Total carbs as well as dietary fibre: I deduct dietary fibre from the whole to get net carbs.
I would say the beauty of a LCHF approach is that you don't need to count anything. Once you have a good idea of where carbs lie (which is the big eye-opener for most of us) then we can just choose low carb ingredients and build meals round them. These visual guides are ideal for that. dietdoctor.com/low-carb/vis...
