Hello all, I've tried various diets in the past. I was already overweight but since the beginning of Lockdown I gained another stone.
For the last two weeks I followed the NHS Calorie controlled diet recommended for my weight height age, BMI etc. which was 1800 calories a day to lose 2lb per week and so far lost 5lbs.
Counting Calories has been an eye opener made me realise how big my portions were. I've cut size of meals and cut out the inbetween snacking and kept under a daily limit. so far so good

Congratulations, ComfortEat, on taking steps to take 'all necessary actions' to rectify a challenging situation: weight gain as a consequence of limited physical activity during the pandemic lockdown.
It is evident from your post that you have already used some of the tools at your disposal: 1) Access to the information and motivation to use the information available through the NHS; 2) an experience of initial success in having lost 5 lbs. so far; and 3) the ability to reflect on your current situation, and the ability to change. (Portion size/snacking).
I hope your efforts continue to be successful! Stay the course!
Hi ComfortEat welcome, I to have recently started again after gaining weight in lock down. I was already overweight and like you gained a stone! Not good but you are off to a great start well done you! This forum is absolutely fantastic for support and everyone is really friendly. Have a look around the site, it's really good. Good luck for this week!
Hi Your story is similar to mine. I too have lost weight on various diets in the past but haven’t calorie counted before. During lockdown I had time to bake and my husband and I have enjoyed far too many cakes etc. At last my husband can see how large his portions are and is keen to cut down on some calories. We only started on Monday but can already see a small loss. 😊 Well done on your weight loss so far I will be very happy if I manage the same.👍
It isn't surprising. Since lockdown I think most of us have gained weight, due to a) boredom, and b) not getting as much exercise as normal.
Try using smaller plates, along with whatever diet you usually use. A smaller plate fools you into thinking you are getting the same amount as usual, also, if you can, don't eat alone. Conversation around the dinner table helps by slowing the rate you eat at, which gives time to activate the body's 'Full' signal.
