Gained 4 stone since shielding & feel miserable

I’m new on here. I have been on and off diets since childhood - dietician put me on first diet when I was 11. I’ve yo-yo’d for decades. Lost half my body weight over 3 years (9 stone) through diet & gentle exercise but my mum died by suicide just before the first lockdown after years of poor mental health & I got really depressed. My partner of 20 years walked out on me, as he couldn’t cope with my deep depression & I don’t have any other family. Been through bereavement counselling & feeling so much stronger but being alone at home 24/7 (I have a bone marrow disorder which makes me extremely clinically vulnerable) led to comfort eating - Zoom has hidden a multiple of sins! Now, I find myself at 13 1/2 stone. So disappointed in myself.

Hello and welcome, YoYo80 :)

You have had a very rough time and had a lot of loss to deal with, along with your health problems and then all the problems of the last year that we've all had. This is a very friendly community and I hope you'll take your time finding your way around and getting to know people, so you have a new bunch of buddies to chat to.

You'll find everything you need by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... to Pinned Posts. A good starting point would be joining a weekly weigh in - why not jump in tomorrow morning? - and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans. You'll find other clubs and challenges in Pinned Posts so do take time to read them, then you know what's on offer.

Active participation pays off so I hope we'll see you out and about around the forum :)

Dear yoyo80, you are grieving over so much loss in a short period of time. Thank God you’ve had some counselling to help you but it will take time. Don’t rush yourself. It is good that you came here, it is a friendly, non-judgemental and supportive group and I hope that you stick around. Have a look at the daily chats, they might encourage you and take your mind of dark thoughts. Hugs 🤗 going your way!

Sorry to hear about your difficulties, it sounds like you've had a huge amount to contend with and I'm sure you've done remarkably well to get through it up to this point.

I hope you find the forum helpful, I've found it great to have the virtual company and support. Hopefully see you in the daily diary. :)

You have had a really tough time but well done on making first steps to lose weight again. I've only recently joined this group and have found it incredibly helpful and welcoming. I'm sure you will too. Best of luck.

Hey YoYo80

I have gone from size 6 to size 14 nothing fits and the weight is making me feel tired. I am hoping that

When we start socialising and getting out it will start to drop off. I have been a prisoner in my home for a year! I go to the fridge frequently because I am going crazy. I know I’m not hungry but there is a pull to the fridge and the kitchen generally. I think freedom will help.

Ps everyone has put on weight during Covid19, let’s support each other to lose this annoying Covid19 weight 😘

Absolutely! I can’t believe how much better my mental health feels after 4 days of eating healthily, getting out for brisk walks & having the support of everyone.
