I have decided enough is enough of fad diets and want to give the 12 week plan a go. I am 40 and am classed as obese. It's time to stop kidding myself and hold myself accountable. About 12 years ago I was just within my healthy weight range at 10 stone and was pretty happy and felt good about myself. 12 years and 3 children later, I weigh in at 13 stone 9lbs (my heaviest ever). I want to be a good role model for my children, I want to get fit. I feel the 12 week plan would help re-educate me in calorie and portion control. According to the bmi calculator I can consume 1400 calories per day which seems alot to me as most calorie controlled diet plans I have been on before say 1200. I will go with it for week 1 and see how I get on. I have also joined a gym and have an induction this week. Anyway just thought I would introduce myself. I've read through the newbie section which was really very helpful. Any hints and tips, meal sharing would be greatfully appreciated.
Thanks,
Nicky

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
I don't know if you've entered your personal details into the BMI calculator, or plumped for the generic amount of 1400 calories, but I suggest you read this, to see why it's very important to eat the correct amount
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We run daily weigh-in's and you would be very welcome to join today's, or any other, bar Monday and Tuesday, which are unfortunately full. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi gemini76 Like you a newbie... Loving this site and the posts you have made, I loved the answers to the carbs queries... some good ideas. Wishing you great success.
Hi Minniewinny and welcome! It really is a great site isn't it. It has really helped me to focus on week one of my weight loss & get fit journey. I've spent so long just thinking about others and not really thinking about, or looking after myself. It's great to read about others journeys and get some great hints and tips along the way.
