Hello - I'm desperate to lose weight as I have gained 4 stone over the last year or so. I have never been this heavy!
I am taking 4 meds which cause weight gain. Has any one any experience of losing weight while on meds? I'm on Quetiapine, Venlafaxine, Pregabalin and Mirtazapine.
The other issue is I'm in hospital so hard to calorie count the meals. I've just stocked up on lots of low cal snacks.
I go to the gym twice a week and do 30min of interval cardio and some weights. I also do 'Sports for confidence' every week which is a different sport each time and I swim every fortnight.
So far just trying to eat healthy hasn't worked and I just keep gaining. I am hoping the nutritionist will put me on a diet soon

It's a sad state of affairs when you gain weight in hospital, despite making every effort to keep slim and fit, it certainly says a lot about the hospital food!!
You need to speak to your healthcare professionals about the side-effects of your drugs, whether you could be changed to something different and insist on help with your diet.
As someone with no medical qualifications, I had to search your medication for some clues to their side-effects and was quite alarmed to read this
"venlafaxine QUEtiapine. Using QUEtiapine together with venlafaxine can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a rare side effect." You may like to take this up with your doctor?

Hi. Yes that's a problem I had and I couldn't lose any weight at all. Came off them about 18 months ago and lost 1 stone without trying. I feel much better without them and found other ways to manage my pain. Getting off them was a nightmare. Sorry I can't help you.
