I will be starting my Physical Activity Programme at my local gym. I haven't done anything like this before so I am not sure what to expect. I have been using Fiit app constantly since lockdown as started. I am a little nervous being in the gym with other people and watching my lack of mobility due to Lupus. I am not sure how people will react as I am using a crutch.
If anyone is currently or doing the physical activity programme. I would love to hear about your experiences.

I'd been referred to the gym by my GP, they had classes for people with various problems - all sorts of health problems. I've picked capoeira and aqua classes - it was really nice and I didn't feel self conscious at all. That was for 12 weeks. The problem with it was that after those 12 weeks I got an offer to join the gym for half the price and attend regular classes. That I never did, because it was not the cost that was my problem. It was not possible to carry on with those classes after 12 weeks, not for additional fee, not even if they were not full. That was a shame. But it was a good experience.
Like you I went on the 12 week course and I found the group sessions suited my health and social needs. At the end of the 12 weeks I attended the body balance group session and some I did minimal gym work, walking on the treadmill and cycling on the upright bike. Since lockdown our gyms have only just opened and you have to attend the sessions ready in your gym gear, there are no open changing rooms. I have to travel to the leisure centre by bus, which is not an option now that the changing facilities are not available. My membership fee is ongoing but clearly I can't use it. So now I exercise using a body balance session I have found on my computer and I walk around the housing estate that I live on when the fair weather allows. I agree with N-o-r-d-i
A decent gym will be very supportive of you just as you are, and will have members who are friendly and supportive. Anything less is a poor gym.
Just remember. You have as much right to be there as anyone else. You definitely should have an introduction, be shown around, have things explained and be helped to work out a set of exercises that suit you. If you don’t understand something, ask. If you can’t do an exercise, say so. And enjoy yourself. If you don’t, make sure you can find something you do enjoy.
Thank you so much. I am trying not be so focused on weight loss but trying to be more activity. The only exercises I do is from my Fiit app which are normally 25 to 40 minutes. One of aims to increase my fitness level and strength. I start on this Thursday will definitely let you know how it goes.
Haven't seen you post for several years, welcome back maybe?
In case anything has changed since you were last here, may I remind you that all of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/weight-l... and I hope you'll be joining some or all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially the weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
I've also given you a restart badge, but let me know if you've been lurking without posting and a 'restart' isn't appropriate.
