Today I went swimming. Then I had the most amazing experience. I tried my first ever Hammam.

First I was directed, to change, and they wrapped a towel about me. Then I was told to go sit in the sauna for 5 minutes. It was so peaceful. I was just getting used to it. When the lady popped in to collect me.

Next I was lead to a room. Where everywhere I looked was coated in white marble. The floor, the wall, the tables, the center pieces. All white. I was lead across the room to another area with a heated marble bed.

I was then advised to lay on it on my belly. I did and was surprised to discover it was heated. Then the lady poured hot water from a copper bowl all over me. That felt surprisingly relaxing. Next I tried not to giggle. As the lady took some black soap and then rubbed it all over me.all over me. Using a mitten of some sort, I Then was rubbed, with something that felt like sand paper all over my body. I giggled a little as I am ticklish.

Then your rinsed of. And turn over. The procedure is repeated. Then your rinsed of with bowls of water again. Then they use something else. Not sure what it was but it felt a bit gritty,

Later I was sent for a shower. It was the most unusual experience. After I felt relaxed, and surprisingly tired. I needed to sleep.

Anyway that was my reward for week 2 run 2. Of the nhs couch to 5k program. Tomorrow I try my third run. I am a little nervous. However, I feel ready for it.

Today for food, I had

2 grape leaf. Wraps of rice

One thin slice of cake

One peach

One apple

One pimson

One satsuma

One apple juice freshly squeezed

One salmon salad at the spa.

Some white thing, not sure what it was, but it was nice, Looked like mash but not mash potatoes.

5 cups of water

And 2 small apple pies (smaller than palm of hand, from the spa)

That sounds a brilliant experience, and what a great reward for yourself :)

What are you basing your eating plan on? Have a look at the Daily Diary, where members post their meal plans. It's very interactive and sociable and I'm sure you;ll find some good ideas to pinch :)

I don’t really have any choice over what I eat though. Food is included in my wages.

Ah, it's you! Sorry, I remembered your name but not that you'd been telling me about your food/living situation :) Have a look at the Daily Diary anyway, just to see what choices people are making.

Do you have access to scales? If so, I recommend joining a weekly weigh in: being part of a team is so supportive, long term. If not, then think about how you'll note any weight loss e.g. clothes feeling looser, sense of your body changing shape, moving more easily, having more energy ....

Yes I plan to join the Tuesday group for weigh ins.

Would you like to join the tortoise and hare running group? We are a friendly lot and would love some new members.
