Hello everyone I'm really struggling at the moment. I keep going up and down between the same two weights no matter what I do. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. We are not big meat eaters, I can't eat pasta as it bungs me up, I don't each much bread. I love vegetables and salads, quinoa, fish, fruit, nuts and seeds. We don't do takeaways or fry ups. I do 10,000 steps a day, I use an exercise bike every other day. I like body team workouts on you tube. I drink plenty of water. What am I doing wrong, I don't get it ☹️

Hi fedupoffeelingtired, I understand your problem and how frustrating it can be. I went nearly 2 months with the same weight.
May I suggest that you join the Daily Diary as I found sharing my day's food prompted helpful criticism from other members allowing me to "Tweak" what ever needed tweaking.
You don't mention which plan you are following, just being careful and eating healthily, or counting calories. Here's a link which may help you.
I was Originally just watching what I ate, then switched to using fitness Pal to monitor my calories. I discovered I only ate 1400 calories a day, so thought I wasnt eating enough so increased slightly. But I found I became obsessed with it, so have gone back to watch ing what I eat, smaller portions.
Morning and yes, I agree with TabbyCat, it can be very dispiriting not being able to move forward with your weight loss. My sympathies!
When this happened to me/ happens to me (!) I go back to my diaries that I keep where I log everything I’ve eaten, plus steps, activity minutes etc from my FitBit. Sometimes those sneaky little extras that I kid myself don’t count, are there staring at me. There might be some weeks where I’ve done the same number of steps but not so many of them were cardio. So then I’ve walked faster but maybe not further necessarily.
I’ve pushed the time when I eat my breakfast to 10.30am, too, thus giving me a longer fast ie I aim not to eat between 7.30pm and 10.30am.
I try and resist seconds, or else take a much smaller first portion. I’ve stopped eating apples and the only fruit I have now is berries.
I don’t eat any bread, pasta, rice or spuds now (when I had some cake at my MacMillan Cake Sale the other week, it registered on the scales the following week thus proving that I cannot eat any of those kind of carbs any longer!)
If I have nuts and seeds, I put them in a tiny bowl so I don’t eat handfuls. They’re good fats, but still calorific.
None of these things might be of any use to you, but I suppose what I’m saying is, if you’re carrying on doing the same things, your results won’t change. I think with this healthy eating journey, we have to keep evaluating and making tweaks.
Lastly, I do monitor my measurements, too, which can give me a boost if the scales aren’t being kind.

Have you had your thyroid function tested recently, as it could very well be that? You may need a change in dose, or need an increase in supplements.
I was diagnosed with hashimoto thyroiditis 2 years ago. I was put on meds that made me pile on weight. I spoke to my GP who agreed for me to stop taking them for 3 months to see what happened. My levels have stayed in the normal range without meds.
I would suggest you return to the Thyroid UK forum with your latest blood test. Being within range does not necessarily mean optimal for you. If you are not being optimally treated, then weight loss will be difficult, if not impossible.
Treatment for Hashimotos is for life and you may just need a different brand of Levo, or even T3.
I was wondering whether to ask you if you have had your thyroid checked, I recognised the going up one, down one as I call it. It happens to me all the time and it is really not a pleasant feeling when you have struggled to try losing weight but aren't getting anywhere.
I am lowthyroid (20 years plus), but up until now I have not got Hashi's.
You aren't having any meds?
What exactly did your Dr tell you about Hashi's? And any idea what the medication was called that you were on?
Have you ever had a full thyroid blood test taken? Well, you must have done, but did the GP give you the results?
I think it would be better to ask about your weight and thyroid issues on the ThyroidUK forum on HU. What those girls don't know is would fit onto a pin head ! I think that is the best way for you to go. I feel sure that you are going to need another test, but with the full range of vitamins etc etc But I am no expert, the other girls will have everything in their head, I'd have to pour over my books and notes before I could put it all together.
Hi, I think we have all been through those times and it sucks. I think like the others have said there are so many factors and we are all so individual. Things like where you are in your journey, with a higher weight and lots to lose it seems to come off quickly at first as opposed to someone with a lower weight with not so much to lose, the kind of eating plan you follow, portion size, exercise, underlying medical issues and I could go on. Is like unpicking a ball of string for each of us. I do think keeping a food diary/journal is handy and I know it sounds silly but make sure you are eating enough. I’ve seen a lot of people fall down with that one. I wish you luck with finding that little thing that suddenly falls into place and sets you off in the right direction again. 😀

Looks like a healthy food list. The only problematic item I can see there is fruit. If you are eating more than one or two pieces per day, it might be the natural sugars.
I think in the beginning that was my problem, I work for a fresh produce company. So it is easy to pick up an apple, orange banana or a punnet of berries as you walk around. I resist it now
Reading your forum name, fedupoffeelingtired, I was wondering the same thing, ie, if you had, had any Thyroid 'tests.'
Unfortunately most GP's, and even many Endo's, do not seem to be very knowledgeable about Thyroid illnesses, and, they will say that your results are within range, when perhaps they are not ideal for you.
I have Hashi's (diagnosed on this forum, earlier this year).
Certain foods, with Hashi's will make you bloated, and, make you feel more fatigued. Gluten and Dairy are supposed to be poor food choices, with someone with Hashimoto's. I find reducing unhealthy carbs, helps me.
Also, it may be that you are a poor converter of T4, to T3, which is the active thyroid hormone, and if T3 is low, you will have many Hypo symptoms, and, feel generally crappy.
I would research Thyroid illness, Hashimoto's disease etc, and then if you have any questions, come back to this forum. There are some highly knowledgeable members on here, who will be able to answer any questions or concerns that you have. You can post your bloodwork results on here also, for feedback and advice, if you haven't done so already.

I totally sympathise. I have been trying to lose weight for years also since being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. I am currently on a journey to establish what I can do about that helped by the fabulous Thyroid group on this forum. I have tried LCHF, intermittent fasting and generally all the things that help other people, but like you I generally eat really healthily, cook all my own food, don't really drink alcohol or eat sugary snacks so I have been perplexed over the years. It always feels like there is not that much to 'cut out'. But this time I joined the NHS challenge and have gone back to basics. For me, calorie counting works better. The first honest weeks of religiously and honestly weighing and measuring and calculating exactly what I am consuming taught me that I actually had been eating TOO MUCH! So I am trying to keep under 1400 calories a day, I manage it about 5 out of 7 days and do the exercise about 4 out of 5 days, so I could always do better and have only been going 3 weeks, but I have lost 3lbs this way and am determined to keep going. Slow and steady is my goal and it really helps to discuss it here. I know many people say that carbs are bad but I will have one piece of wholegrain toast with marmite in the morning occasionally as I really enjoy it and then don't then feel deprived. Likewise, the odd piece of 90% chocolate is only 60 calories so that is allowed every now and then too. Luckily I like savoury food best and I am a keen cook so I eat loads of vegetables normally anyway and enjoy cooking new things. Don't give up, just find a system that works for you, everyone is different but you will get there! GOOD LUCK!
If you have never done it before, TRY a keto diet, or TRY intermittent fasting, or better yet, try both at the same time. Just see.
Will have a look at keto heard a lot about it. I have to be careful with fasting as I have a heart condition. I don't eat after 6pm and have my breakfast about 7. If I go any longer it makes me feel ill
