I’m trying to eat healthy again!

Sooo, where shall I start?? 😭

I was getting married in 2018 and I wanted to look like a princess but I just couldn’t shed off any weight for years!! But I became really strict and ate very little throughout the day and went gym every single day without a fail for a whol year and managed to lose 3.5 stones the struggle was real but I was over the moon!!! I then moved into my husbands home and he loves eating out and I just felt myself getting back into the bad eating habits real slow and I eventually stopped going gym and gain a stone then got pregnant in Feb 2019 and had my baby girl in November 2020 and probs gained another stone (this weight was mostly my baby girl)

I went through something called “postnatal depression” (Sadly my labour experience was awful) and I lost weight, a lot of it and then I tried to maintain it however upon going to my 8 weeks check with the nurse she said I should take the pill and make sure I stick to it for 6 months at least (I had a c section and she didn’t recommend me getting pregnant for a year) anyhow I started taking them in January and I just blew up within one month I had put on 6-7kgs and then a few months later constantly putting weight on, I then got told by a friend the pill can increase weight (not sure how true this is) but I literally feel shit!!

I look at myself, feel so awful and disgusting.

Yesterday it was my husbands birthday and everyone kept insisting me to be in the pictures and I didn’t want too I hate others taking pictures of me!! They still took pictures of me and I looked hideous nothing like me at all, I can’t even see myself like this anymore!!

So today I woke up and decided to eat healthier and I’m hoping it lasts long enough to get my confidence and motivation back because right now I don’t have any and I’m worried I’m just going to stay like this forever...😢

Sorry, you had to go through so much.... But thanks for sharing. Also, being in the photos can be sooo traumatic 😔 Your decision is made, however, and now you can start making healthier choices. That will be not only looking after yourself but also enabling yourself to look after your baby girl better. Good luck!

Hi Lost 90, aww, well done for posting and sharing how you feel,I think many of the board users myself included have or is feeling like you. I don’t have my photo taken either, I don’t think your alone, I can completely empathise with you. You can’t change the past, but the really good news is you can change your future and with support you can get to where you want to be! The easiest thing to do is get rid or get someone to hide the rubbish foods so that they are no longer a temptation. There is plenty of links and tips on this forum so perhaps just try and read as much as you can, and then decide what type of diet you want to try. It must be hard with a little one and getting to do exercise, however walking with a buggy or going to a park is all good exercise. Lots of people are doing all sorts of diets low carb high fat, calorie counting , combination of the two, slimming world, many many more. Once you have decide I am sure you will get lots of support from this very caring forum. You can do this, I wish you the best of luck on this new chapter in your life.

Well done on that walk, that is fantastic, I like walking too, I’m to old to run, unless it’s after the grandchildren! 😊 3 mile walk is an excellent start! 👏👍

Hello and welcome, Lost90 😊

As the others have said, you've taken the first step by coming here. It sounds as though you've been very restrictive in your attempts to lose weight previously so I hope you've realised that doesn't work. And it isn't necessary. Really. Have a look at this simple plan which would give you healthy, filling meals and be a good pattern for your little one, too phcuk.org/wp-content/upload... That's real healthy eating :)

You'll find all our groups and activities in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... , plus a Welcome message. A good place to start is with a weekly weigh-in on the day of your choice, and the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.

This gives you a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true and, along with Pinned Posts, will show you how things work. Active participation can be a great boost to your own efforts so I hope you'll become an active member and we will see you joining in around the forum 😊

PS the app doesn’t give access to all parts of the forum so we advise everyone to get rid of the app and log on to the full website using the browser on their phone

Yes I haven’t really decided what exactly I’m going to be doing, just thought calorie counting and a lot of people have put me off it but I want to give it a go. I definitely will have a look and see what could work for me, I didn’t think of doing a combination of two but that’s sounds great!

If you're going to calorie count, head over to the NHS BMI calculator which will give the best range for you (the 1400 figure is generic and suits very few of us). Once you've got your range, the bigger decision is how you're going to use that calorie allowance. It's just plain wrong to say "A calorie is a calorie" - it's pretty obvious to all of us that 300 cals of biscuits is very different from 300 of omelette and side veg.

And, most importantly, don't be afraid of healthy fats. A little goes a long way and they keep us feeling fuller longer. Do have a look at that plan I've given you as it may give you a new slant on eating healthily, and also this blog fatismyfriend.co.uk/

All the best :)

Welcome! I feel you about the pictures, I've been avoiding them for a while, and didn't recognize myself in the mirror for a couple of years. I still don't, but I know I will as I'm on the way already.

I just joined 4 weeks ago with a similar story, 2 pregnancies 20 months apart... It's too much, pregnancy, newborn, maternity leave, hormones... Is a huge change in our life, feelings and emotions up and down all the way... Too many things to adjust... But here we are, starting this journey 😊 My little ones are 1 and almost 3 years now.

We can do it! We are in the right place to do it! Just came back here for help, advice or an ear, it's an amazing forum!

You've made a fantastic decision, to join in here! You can definitely do this. The weekly weigh-in is always a real boost, with people talking about how they've done, and what they might tweak to have a better week the next week. Everyone is super supportive.

There are so many ways to approach weight loss, and if one approach doesn't work, another one will!

I really identify with your post, as I'm sure many of us here do. And the photo business! We've had a fair few family arguments about that issue...

Good luck settling in here.

You can definitely do this! :-)

Good luck ,I have just seen a photo of myself from wedding in January 2020.

I've piled on the weight over the years and a few weeks ago I started to get to grips.

Today I feel better .

Massive support on here , remember that you are not alone.

Little by little, good luck Lost 90.
