UI have had fertility issues and miscarriages and i want to lose weight so i can start a family(i know you can get pregnant at this size) but i want to be as health as i can for when this finally happens. any advise or tips would be brilliant especially regards to under active thyroid and weight loss tips

Hello, it’s nice to see you here and you have a good motivation to keep you going when things get tough.
I had thickened lining of the womb and ended up needing hormonal treatment. The tests also showed borderline underactive thyroid and it made me realise that my thyroid must have been borderline underactive for my whole life - lower body temperature, slower metabolism and so on. Additionally, I have tendencies towards anxiety and depression, even though I never took medications for those. All of above resulted in a massive weight gain over the last few years. However, even though I’m still having the hormones for my condition, by counting calories, watching what I eat and moving more - I did manage to lose a significant amount of weight since last summer.

Hi Zola, I started my journey a couple of months ago, weighing in at 23st 4lb. It’s not been easy, but have found calorie counting really useful. It down 2.5st at the minute, and haven’t really been able to exercise because of bad knee pain. I’ve used an app called Lose It! to keep track of calories. All the best as you get started!
You've had some wonderful responses; but I just wanted to say that, you've made a great first step in the right direction...this forum is absolutely fab!!! The advice you will receive is invaluable! As too is the Thyroid HU forum; I've learnt so much on there; you will too.
Good luck on your new journey to feeling healthy and happy (and, starting a family) x
I know it's a bit different but my issue is cfs/me and this means I am inactive so I imagined I would struggle to loose weight and was doing, even though I felt I was eating healthily most of the time. I was given 12 weeks free at slimming world as part of the nhs programme here, and this really helped me. I am not endorsing the programme, just saying that I managed to loose weight and I really thought it was going to be much more difficult than it has been due to inactivity.
