Hello and welcome to the weight loss forum, RachelG78l :)

From your profile, I see you talk about your greed and lack of motivation. Many people join the forum beating themselves up about their 'weaknesses' but I'm going to suggest that isn't what's stopping you losing weight: it's your choice of food, rather than any failing or lack of willpower on your part.

Please take your time reading the following, and come back with any questions.

When weight loss is a struggle: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

How carbs trigger food cravings: well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013...

Fat is my friend (a GP's take on eating well): fatismyfriend.co.uk/

You'll find everything you need, including a Welcome message, in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in team on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.

I hope you'll become an active member and we'll see you out and about around the forum, reading, chatting and supporting others :)

Hey there!

Good to see you here.

What BridgeGirl said is really on point - it's about choice of food and quantity rather than eating and willpower.

Eating is something we all need to do to survive, and to be healthy it's best that we get all the nutrients we can, in sensible portions. Never feel down for eating, it could just perpetuate the problem.

To start think of ways you can switch around what you eat to include some healthy alternatives. Also, don't think of it as a diet. Instead think of it as a lifestyle change, and the weight will come off as a side effect as you improve your eating and start moving more.

Something that really helped me was calorie monitoring as it helps you be very aware of the amount of calories and nutrition (or lack of) in some foods and improves portion awareness - I've found it's improved my eating habits even when I'm not weighing or counting.

Very importantly do your research and find something that works for you and that you can stay consistent with. If you can't stick with it because you're hungry all the time or for some other reason there is no point to that!

The first few weeks can be really difficult when making changes but I promise you will adjust and it will become easier! Then before you know it, it's a habit.

I eat five to six times a day and am never hungry, I make sure of that. And get in some exercise. I get all my nutrients in smaller size portions. Carbs, fats, proteins - the lot. No food is your enemy. It's all about the balance <3

I know how you feel. Me too ! I had a great week last week and lost 4 lbs and this week I have put 1.5 lbs back on. I'm not sleeping brilliantly and finding all this hard to deal with but gotta get back on track. It must be possible !!!! The science says it is !
