High Cholesteral and being overweight

Lottielonglegsgsd profile image

My doctors has notified me that after my recent blood tests my cholesterol level is a little high at 5. I am about 3 stone overweight and am going to WW but never seem to loose much. Am unable to run ( running (or jogging) is my preferred excercise) because I've had a tumble and damaged my knee. Can't seem to get my head focused, used to be able to focus and was really good at losing weight. Older now and am finding it more difficult. Suggestions please.

5! My Dr says 5 is good🤔a bit below is better but 5 ok. I'm 6 which apparently is within the parameters for my age (pensioner). Just do what you can to bring your weight down and the cholesterol should drop. I've never got along with WW, don't know why but I was a SW member for years and years and maintained my target no problem at all after loosing 3st to get there. I'm now using myfitness pal to loose the 1.5 st I'd like to loose, it's free might be worth a go for you. Move about as much as you can, I got bad knees so I cycle at the gym and walk as much as possible. "Every little helps" as they say 😊

Hi, Lottielonglegsgsd , welcome.

Most people do not need to worry about a high-fat diet increasing their Cholesterol:

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Hi, I admire you for the exercise you've done, it must be frustrating now having an injury. I've never liked exercising but am looking at joining a Tai Chi class to help with my ever growing pains due largely to being overweight!

I'm a driver so don't even get much exercise from walking around.

Not what you're looking for?
