Being lean, fit and healthy will give you the best chance to do anything you want to do.
I was disabled for half a decade - but, now that I have lost weight and have a new pacemaker, I walk 30 to 40 km per week.
My Nephew had an accident - and he was able to walk five years later.
Have yo thought about cycling?
Weight loss is not all about motivation and masochism - if you "slim smart" it is not so hard!

I've got arthritis in the back and the best advice I can give you is movement is everything pilates will help you no end as it strengthens the core and so helps the back, gentle walking for cardio helps and low impact workouts from Team Body Project helps too check with your gp before doing anything
