Welcome and good luck on your weight loss journey. This is a really good forum and coming on here every day would really help you. There is a lot of good information here along with a lot of encouragement. Best wishes.
Sounds like you're ready to change lifestyle ... many people (inc me) have succeeded by seriously cutting down on carbohydrates .... if you're interested this link is to various posts about this - from "theory" through to personal experiences ..

Welcome to the Weight Loss site Asil! You should have been sent a Welcome post when you registered on the Forum but as this seems to be your 1st post on Weight Loss side you may not have had a message about how this bit works so I've put a guide link here which gives you lots of advice and links to useful information on how to get the most out of this site.

Try to think in terms of changing your lifestyle rather than "going on another diet". I'd hate to be diabetic these days because the mainstream advice is frankly appalling. It's not particularly difficult to put T2D into remission, but nobody wants to know. If I were being cynical, I might suggest there was too much money to be made from keeping diabetics alive but chronically ill.
Read up on Dr David Unwin's work. He's the NHS doctor who's trying to get the NHS to sort themselves out. He's doing pretty well considering, and his advice is really very simple: avoid diets and low-fat food substitutes and eat proper meals instead. It works. There's a bit more to it than that, but if you follow cheritorrox 's link to the LCHF group someone will walk you through it. It's not difficult or unpleasant.
Best place to be some amazing people on here worked for me was on 96 units of insulin October 18 since then lost 7st and been off insulin since November just taking the tablets. Started walking weather permitting cut out takeaways just eating healthy stuff. Good luck with your weight journey sort that out and it will help your diabetes. It also helps having a very understanding diabetic nurse I can't thank her enough. Paul
Well as I have learned the only magical diet fairy around is me!! I have half heartedly been following the Low carb diet since November but am starting in earnest in January, because it works. I lost 4 lbs at a time I would usually put that on...... And take most of the year to get it off!! Do what works for you.
Hi, Hidden , welcome.
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works for weight loss and diabetes, is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
In addition to all the good advice youhave had already, may I suggest you look up Robert H Lustig on youtube. Good clear explanation of body weight balance.
