Hi, I joined a long time ago but will admit I did not do anything about losing weight. At long last I feel in the right frame on mind to do some thing about it.

My starting weight is 17st 5lb and I would love to lose a stone over the next 6 weeks and another 7lb leading up to Christmas.

I do aqua aerobics twice a week and made an booking for a gym induction tomorrow. I supper with spinal stenosis which limits my walking which is why the aqua classes are so good for me.

Thanks Pam1949

Lovely to see you joining in here, and I wish you all the very best with your first goals - they sound perfect.

Many people find the more they join in, the more support and encouragement they receive and can give in return - which we all love receiving.

I hope you enjoy the gym - but if you find it’s not for you there are loads of other activities you could do to help you move more.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am limited to what I can do because of my spinal stenosis which is why I enjoy the aqua so much. Thought I would see if there is anything I might enjoy at the gym as I'm a member. Fingers crossed.

I noticed that you had to choose your exercise carefully - I just know not everyone enjoys the gym as much as me - but if you do, go for it.

It will be interesting to see what exercises he will give me. Thanks

Well, to my surprise I enjoyed my induction at the gym and the exercises I was given. I go again on Friday with the instructor to see what else I can do. There was a scanner there and it said that I have the body of a 78 year old (I'm 70) but he was very pleased with that and said given time we will get it down to 70. Watch this space.

I could be your twin, except my limitation for exercise is osteoarthritis. I am seventy, similar weight and five foot tall. This is going to be my all out effort to lose weight. Cannot swim so not an option, suffer fatigue most of the time another barrier to exercise. I find walking around the supermarket pushing a trolley for support helps my mobility and 'fitness'! Therefore it's going to have to be head-on dieting. Have started weaning myself off of sugary stuff, fats next!

If I can shift some weight then that should make exercise easier I hope.

I'll follow you progress with interest. All power to you.

Hi and welcome, dymond :)

I see you suffer with fatigue, have you had your thyroid, vitamin, mineral and iron levels tested, as low readings for these can cause debilitating fatigue?

Have a look at these and see if they can help and don't think diet, think new, healthier lifestyle healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and phcuk.org/wp-content/upload... you'll see that fat is not the enemy!

As you said we could be twins. I'm 5'5 so taller. I suffer the same fatigue in fact I could sleep most of the day. Losing weight will help with that. It's funny I do a job on a Monday & Thursday morning checking prices in a supermarket and without the trolley I would not be able to do it. I class this as a bit of exercise to. You can do aqua aerobics even if you can't swim you just stay in the shallow water. Hope you have a good weekend.

Thanks for the reply, and the chuckle over your supermarket trolley. Had all the bloods done for fatigue with nothing obvious showing. I now take more vitamins etc than you can shake a fist at and have had a slight improvement in that I'm not so sleepy during the day, but energy levels really not much improved.

I'll keep in mind the aqua aerobics but not keen on water.
