Hi.
Tomorrow I start my Journey to loss 2Stone. I'm going to calorie count which is daunting as I've never done anything like this.
Any tips on the best App to use?

Hi, welcome,
I am currently using 'Lose it' app to log food and exercise, and come here for support . Have previously used MyFitnessPal, which was ok and WeightLossResources which was good but it wasn't free.
They all take a bit of practice so play around with whichever one you choose for a bit - the scanners are good.
'Lose it' does seem to have a lot of 'portion/serving' where you don't know what weight a serving is but it is easy enough to choose another option - and you can always ask us
MFP had a lot of American foods and WLR was good but I didn't want to pay out this time.
A little tip - get a set of flat kitchen scales as you can add different food to your plate whilst it sits on them. It will be easier to weigh using the tare button between each food. Hope that helps a bit

Thank you Babs a great help for a new atarter😆
Hi good luck on your journey, would you like to join our Easter challenge to lose half a stone by Easter? Just post your weight on the Easter Countdown challenge post, hope to see you there! I will attach a link for you
We started last week and downloaded my fitness pal as it’s free... it’s been quite straightforward to use and my hubby has lost half a stone in week one... I’ve lost 6 cm from my waist!!! ( but maybe I didn’t measure properly last week) good luck
Hi and welcome, Lynne-Win
MFP does help a lot of people, but don't be guided by it's calorie allowance, it's stingy! Get that from the NHS BMI calculator.
Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I must admit I tried a couple of apps (hated MFP for being very "American") and ended up with little notebook, pen & calculator!
I made up some separate reference pages of foods split into dairy & oil, fruit & veg, protein (meat/fish/eggs) & "carby stuff" (pasta rice spaghetti etc) as I went along if I was likely to eat them regularly. For me this took less time than piddling around with technology and getting frustrated when I couldn't "add" what I wanted to (it's probably an age thing!)
