I'm Donna. I am a cover teacher and I have been diagnosed with a disc herniation on the spine. I have lost feeling in my legs and my life has completely changed. I am currently 97.2 kg I have been cutting out sugar and fats for 3 weeks now. My initial weight was 100.2 kg. I want to loose the weight to help my back condition and pain. I'm trying to stick to around 1300 calories a day. I wish everyone success in your weight loss journey.

Hi Donna, sorry to hear about your back problem and hope you find relief as you lose weight. I’m new here but have found lots of interesting and motivating things going on. It’s a great supportive site. Good luck with everything 😊
I'm so sorry to hear about your back problem and the understandable effect it is having on you.
I need to advise you you are likely to be eating too little. It is paying off now at the start of your diet but will not continue to work well for you. I would advise you to find the correct calorie range for you from the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... and experience here says you are best starting at the upper end of that range. These two posts will explain more

Hi Donna and welcome. Pain sucks, back problems suck, losing feeling in your legs is scary as hell so I hope you´re being monitored closely by your doctor.
That said: I understand going very low on calories when you´re in a rush to lose weight and maybe unable to move as much as you´d like but you really can´t afford to lose muscle mass right now. Your muscles are what´ll support your spine in the long run and eating very few calories makes it more likely you´ll lose significant muscle mass in addition to fat. Try to stay as active as your body allows - guided by your doctor or therapist, of course.
Good morning, thank you for your kind replies. I think I'm going to up my intake to the higher end. I'm looking into getting a referral from my GP to a local gym that has specific professional guidance for my particular disability. I will let you all know.
