Hello to you all. I've just joined, that post Christmas thing plus too much eating out and my birthday - the big 70. I've done all I knew had to be done plus one other most important thing. I've had over fifty novels published and am still writing. Unfortunately this means spending too long at the computer - so - thanks to ebay, I bought a cheap exercise bike on line and am pleased to note that not only have I lost a few pounds (I refuse to give up drinking wine with my evening meal) I feel fitter and am surprised to say I've also lost an inch or more around the waist. Dead pleased!

Great stuff - hopefully the mindlessness of the bike lets you float away into inspiration for your books :)

You're quite right. Lying on a sofa does the same but without the sudden halo shining just above my head!

Will do. When I was younger losing half a stone was not a problem. At seventy it's much more difficult. My 51 year old daughter agrees with me. It's almost a case of eating nothing if I wanted to lose weight in the way I used to.

Have a good look at the information I gave you yesterday, there is no reason for hunger and deprivation 😊

I was being facetious. There is no way I can eat nothing. Porridge for breakfast (no added sugar and only half milk). Eggs on toast for lunch (no butter) Tea, coffee and water. Home made prawn curry tonight. Wine with meal - and water Mediterranean style. Resist the cheese and biscuits but perhaps one meringue nest and no fat Greek yogurt. I do realise that there are changes in metabolism the older you get. Exercise helps and with the weather as it is today the bike helps.

That’s good to hear 😊

Couple of points. As we age our hormones affect the way we process certain foods, in particular sugar. See this for a better explanation healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Secondly, don’t be afraid of a fat, it’s an essential nutrient and good for satiety. Few professionals now believe eating fat makes you fat.

If you have any more questions just ask 😊

Congratulations on getting your books published and great that you’ve found a method of regular exercise! You must be chuffed. I joined this community two weeks ago have found loads of motivation for losing weight from posts and responses. Hope you find the same. Good luck!
