Hi everyone :-)

I've missed being able to post a good post as my space bar hasn't been working and I didn't want to write a post using the hyphen key so I'm pleased to say that I am now armed with my new laptop and can now post happily.

I am pleased to say that I am still here 53 weeks later with all you lovely people and I see there are lot's of new comers on the forum who I will be catching up with at some point soon :-)

So onto my progress. I have lost 4 lbs this week and really can't believe it in some ways as I have had a couple of days off to rest and haven't worked out quite as much as I would normally, but I needed the rest as my body was so tired. Last week I did over 100 kms travelling by bike, running and walking. This week I have pushed myself hard at the beginning of the week, but later found that I cannot keep up that trend and had to listen to my body and I am glad I did.

I have now lost a total of 90 lbs and weigh 10 stones 10 lbs. I have lost 37.50% of my original body weight and I couldn't be happier today with this result :-) I am at my lowest weight in years and have been asked just yesterday "when are you going to stop losing weight ? your already skinny" LOL I love that :-)

I went to work this week wearing a size 10 top for the first time in many, many years and that felt so good :-) I came out of the house and saw my neighbor who just looked at me and said "skinny" and he called his wife out and told her to look and said it again. He said to me "well done" with the biggest smile on his face, he was genuinely happy for me. This transformation I have gone through has changed my life for ever and for the better and it's been worth all of the effort and this year will be my first year of living a life as a skinny person and I am so looking forward to the summer :-)

Hope you are all having a great week and enjoy the weekend everyone

I've just looked up how many kg 6st 6lbs is and I've lost 40.82kg wow :-) I'm so chuffed

Trafford, I couldn't be happier for you. You are one determined lady. What a difference a year makes :)

You are so inspirational and motivational, I couldn't think of a better example to us all.

So, how much more do you intend losing, skinny?!! :D

Thank you moreless :-) I have another 2 lbs to reach my goal of losing 92 lbs so when I reach this goal I will have met my target. I wanted to lose this in 52 weeks, but with Christmas it wasn't possible so I have given myself till week 54 to reach this goal. From there I now want to lose 100 lbs, but I am not going to give myself a deadline to reach a 100 lb loss I will just continue on my journey here with all ya'll :-)

Definitely Trafford :)

Welcome back Trafford with your lovely new laptop and fully working space bar :) Congrats on an excellent 4lb loss - firmly in the 10s now! You sound so upbeat and positive, like you're just feeling great all the time. I'm so glad to hear it. I'm in awe of your 100km in a week, although I once did that myself - it was mostly from cycling though, and some time ago now, maybe something to work towards again! Glad you're listening to your body and giving it a rest when it needs it. What a great first post of the year, and looking forward to hearing more! Have a great weekend :)

Thank you Ruth :-) I am firmly in the 10's now thank goodness for that. I honestly couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale this morning after having two days off. Well not quite off as I have still been walking and running, but not as much I would normally do and it has still paid off.

100 kms in a week is a lot and I only achieved this as I was off work, since going back after the Christmas break it has taken it's toll so I am glad I took time out to rest and catch up on plenty of sleep :-) I to will be attempting the 100 kms again at some point in the near future. I kept telling myself all week to run, bike, walk.....and I did it. It was a great achievement thanks to moreless setting the bar high I had to give it a go :-)

I'm always up for a good challenge as you know

Thank you for your continued support Ruth :-)

I don't think I know anyone who has the same definition of a 'day off' as you! Good luck for reaching your 92lb goal, maybe next week...! Or soon anyway - exciting :)

Hi Trafford1,

You've lost a total of 40.82kg (6 stone 6 pounds) and I had a look to see what animal that weight might represent on the internet, and in the Livescience website about Penguins it said:

The largest penguin is the emperor penguin. It grows to 36 to 44 inches (91.44 to 111.76 cm) tall and weighs 60 to 90 lbs (27.21 to 40.82 kg).

So your weight loss represents the absolute heaviest size that an Emperor Penguin might grow to! Wow!!!

Losing 90 pounds, and 37.50% of your original body weight is absolutely phenomenal. Being your current weight of 10 stone 10 pounds, and wearing size 10's - the 10's definitely represent your current number!!! 10/10 for effort and accomplishment! :-)

I am amazed that you did over 100kms last week, but at the same time I wasn't too surprised, as I know you cover a lot of distance with your biking, running and walking. Glad to hear you were pacing yourself though, and listening to your body, and that you also had a couple of rest days too. I'm sure that's really good for the body to repair and recover.

It's lovely to hear that you've been receiving some comments about how skinny you're looking. Being told you're "already skinny" - wow, that must have sounded good. I had a similar experience this week when I walked beside some roadworks and had to squeeze through a narrow gap between the bollards, and a workman said to me "Good job you're so slim!" - I passed him and gave him a big smile and emphasised the words 'Thank you' - because I was so thrilled that he had perceived me as being slim. Even though I've been a normal BMI for quite a time now, I still perceive myself as being larger than I actually am, and I forget that other people might see me differently. It's fantastic that you are wearing your size 10's to work, and enjoying the compliments.

It's also great that you've got your new lap-top and you can type without those hyphens. There are lots of new people who have joined the site, and I can imagine the Monday group weigh-in will be busy!

Wishing you a great weekend, and here's to another great week ahead. Good luck with kicking the Kms for next week - I know you'll cover quite a distance!

Lowcal :-)

trafford1 profile image
trafford1ā€¢ in reply toZest

Wow Lowcal I just love this reply to my post :-) I have lost a whole Emperor Penguin now that's massive! :-)

I also love that you have pointed out that I'm 10/10 and wearing a size 10. Sometimes you don't see what others see and when it is pointed out to you, you think to yourself 'wow'

It's great to hear that you also received such a lovely compliment from the workman this week mrs slim :-) like you I still see myself at times as larger than I am and I think that's because I have lived for so long in a larger body that my mind still needs to catch up. I still look at myself in the mirror to this very day and am surprised by what I see in there or at my reflection in a window or in the changing room when I go to try on new clothes. It's a whole new life and it takes some getting used to doesn't it :-)

You and the fab five are going to have your work cut out for you on the Monday thread with all the new faces joining in I am sure it will be one of the busiest yet and I look forward to reading the tread with my new laptop in the comfort of my bed, as with this laptop I don't have to have it plugged in all the time like the old one which always died on my if it weren't hooked up to the wall :-)

Have a wonderful Saturday and Sunday and enjoy those Prawn Cocktail crisp later. I know I will :-) and I look forward to finding out how you have done on Monday. You have certainly worked hard this week Lowcal so I am excited to read how you have done hun :-) getting ever closer to your goal

Hi Trafford1,

Thanks - I'm buying those crisps tomorrow - as you know I thought it was Sunday today, so now I know I have an 'extra' day - I will save them for tomorrow. I love anticipation sometimes, so that will be good.

Catch up with you again soon. :-)

Lowcal :-)

Hi Trafford1,

So pleased to hear from you and your new laptop, mind your messages just aren't the samešŸ˜ƒ Lol.

Congrats on another fantastic loss. You must look back at a most fabulous year and all you have achieved. With an even better year to comešŸ˜ƒ

I have decided to go back to basics and have downloaded the 12 week plan again and starting from scratch. I've bought a pedometer so really focused on the steps/ activity I do and see if it helps get these pesky pounds moving !!

Enjoy the size 10's skinny !!

Have a lovely weekend

The messages just didn't have the same feel to them did they and that's why I haven't been posting much cause you can't quite get anything across with all those hyphens, but it came in handy. Didn't want the newbies thinking I'm nuts either LOL

I tried to go back to basics and follow the plan over, but it just didn't work for me as I was already doing it as it tout me so much already it was all just instilled. Good luck though trying it again floss it may work for you.

Just got back from shopping and bought a lovely new size 10 dress for work and looking forward to showing that off at work, it makes me look even skinnier I just love it :-)

have a really nice weekend hun x

I'm looking back over at the plan to jog my memory for making different choices, my eating is in a rut and needs a rethink so I had thought re reading might make me think of new stuff to try.

Well it's a start !! šŸ˜ƒ

I'm sure the newbies will be too inspired to think you too nutty lol

I lost 3 lbs by weigh in on Lowcals Monday post and a further 4 lbs by Saturday Aqua so this is why I was surprised to see this number today and I think it's all down to doing that those 100.8kms last week and for all I have done at the beginning of this week. It's all paid off big time and I'm well chuffed with the results. It's shown me that if I work that hard again this week I could see more amazing results. I might just go for it :-)

Congratulations ! You have totally changed your life. Keep posting on here tho, as you are an inspiration to us all and seeing all our struggles will also inspire you to keep it off. And do that Trafford, don't let it creep back like some of us have done. Not after all your hard work. I had a lot of people moaning at me years ago when I had got down to your present weight, and because were always tempted, eventually I let a few lb creep back, to please others who said I was "too skinny" -and here I am again 14 years later doing it all over again.

Ignore the naysayers - they don't always like the new you- keep your weight the way YOU want it.

Hi libby and thank you for your reply. I can't see myself ever going back to my original weight as being where I am now is just so exciting and I have worked so hard to get here. The plan is to continue with exercise and eating sensibly. Stop losing when I am happy with what I see and not what others see and just enjoy the new me. This year is going to be so different as this will be my first year in about 15 years living as a skinny person, wearing what I want and feeling comfortable and confident in it, so yeah even more exciting times ahead. I will keep posting on here and reading everyone's journeys as this forum has helped me no end and I've met some lovely supportive people here :-) thank you again hun

libbydaniels88 profile image

Great - because I'm not pressing the point, but its SOOO easy. And not tomorrow, or next week. I mean in maybe a few years time. There seems to come a point when, in my experience, you'll have been slim for so long ,8 years in my case, and you totally believe you never going to have to worry about weight again. You really forget,or shelve, any anxiety you had about weight, diets, and you havnt only bought some size 10 jeans, you've worn some out and bought replacements ! And THATS the time to realize that this eating thing is not very far away, it truly is a monster šŸ‘¾ and it can wait a long time to strike. A change of life, I retired, and stopped dancing ( Morris dancing - ok all laugh now- but its brilliant exercise) and slowly, the monster appeared. And when it does , your resolve starts to withet.

Please don't think I'm bursting your balloon here - I feel like I'm downsaying you, I really don't mean that. But keep that little fxxxxr in the back of your mind because he's always there - again hearty congratulations to you - you did brilliant !!!!!!!

trafford1 profile image
trafford1ā€¢ in reply tolibbydaniels88

I totally get what you are saying and I see it as once I reach my target weight I will have to work at this for the rest of my life and not become complacent as it can all just go back on in a blink of an eye. I am lucky as I have a partner who I work with everyday and we keep each other motivated and workout together and together we have both lost a lot of weight. We made a promise to make sure if we see either one of us start to let ourselves go then the other will push to ensure that doesn't happen.

As I'm not naturally slim it's always got to be in the forefront of my mind to be mindful of the consequences of over eating and I think I've learned a whole lot this past year, but the changes have to be for life. I completely understand your points and it's good advice you have given me hun :-) thank you

40 kg Tradfford1, my goodness you are a champion. Congratulation a million time over. This is a fantastic story.

Had a celebration today with pub meal, a delicious linguini dish with prawns, chorizo, and white wine creamy cheese sauce. I know, how could I ? Easy, she answered. šŸ˜„

It was really a one off. I don't regret it. However, on the way back and stopping to fill up the car, I decided to have a mars bar (chocolate and caramel). My reasoning is if I made a pig of myself once I may has well do it in style and fully.

I am not worried because i will be back on track by tomorrow with lovely vegetables and other really good healthy food. So all good.

I agree with having a day off to eat what you want and I've been doing this from the start of my journey and it works as long as we get right back on track it helps to keep you focused so why not I say too :-)

Glad to hear you enjoyed your pub grub with the creamy cheese sauce followed by the mars bar we need to ensure we still have those treats and know it's okay to do so.

Finding the right balance is key to a successful journey as you well know :-)

nhs2015 profile image
nhs2015ā€¢ in reply totrafford1

I did enjoy the pub meal Trafford1 but not really the mars bar. At the end of it I though "why on earth did I do that, so icky sweet" . It is amazing how having cut down on sugar, I am now very sensible to it. My taste buds have changed and do not like or enjoy sweetness as much as before. I am much more aware of other flavours. A lot of food now taste beautiful when previously I could not eat them unless it had a lot of sugar in it.

Love your posts trafford, thought provoking, inspiring and morale boosting. I am having a little trouble posting on here too, but not because of a duff spacebar, lol. The forum is being a little temperamental on whether it likes me sometimes or would prefer that I go take a running jump, hehehe.
