O dear! You seem to keep coming back to this sugar problem? What advice did you try and what has worked or not worked for you? Looking back at what you've tried could be useful!

I started to read my old messages. They sounded good.

Sometimes seeing through a pair of fresh eyes can do the trick as well.

I am struggling to cross that bridge when I am craving sugar. The last 3 or 4 weeks I .have been cutting back on sugar. Eating na banana a day and some sugar. Now I want to cut out the little bit that is harder than eating alot. I am going to need a life jacket to across the water under the bridge. Ha ha

Hi Applesspice I’ve just joined here but I have come off sugar! It is hard but one thing I found was stay away from artificial sweeteners! They are soooo bad and give you more cravings for sugary things. I eat a piece of fruit for a sugar hit which has fibre in, slows the sugar down as it hits your system. And if I really had a bad day a small piece of dark chocolate. Hope that helps

Yes it does. It is beneficial to have someone that goes through it.

The going off the diet pop will be hard to go off. Thanks again

What kind of fruits do you eat.

Apples

orange

Bananas

I am trying out apples at the moment but I’ve been eating one Medjool date which are the pricey ones but do give you a really good sugar hit!

Also re- artificial sweetener be careful they are in loads of food and drink ( most of the sugar free cordials have them in) lots of sugar free foods & low-fat foods its quite a mind field out there good luck.

My recommendation is to go cold turkey.

Or just google "is diet coke bad for you?" and read some of the recent studies about why it IS so bad, and you might just be put off it for ever!

Good luck!

Thanks. I have been drinking Coke zero.. In the same category. Determine to this. I am tired no of carrying around 90 pounds.

Hi Applesspice . When I said go cold turkey, I meant ditch coke altogether. Aspartame which is artificial sweetener mimics the effect of sugar, so you will still crave it. As someone else here has said, try eating some fruit instead. And try going for a walk when the craving is really bad. You can get through this you know. 🤗

(And Diet Coke is just as bad for your teeth as coke with sugar).

Discipline and motivation help. The way to avoid snacking (and sugar craving) it to eat plenty of good food (including fat) at mealtimes.
