Sorry. Has anyone got any tips to beat sugar cravings. I love sweet stuff. I did well on holiday and didn't crave it. I thought that was the kick stRt, but am addicted again, and crave it like mad. Mainly chocolate. I am not bothered about sweets, I can leave cakes and biscuits, unless there my favourite, but I tend not to buy them.
I hardly touch diet drinks, maybe two cans a week. , I know there is an ingredient in there which makes you crave sugar. I am going to try to stop completely.
Any help I'd love.

We most of us enjoy something sweet now and then. Look for the most natural sources to satisfy your craving. A small bag of dates, one or two dried figs, a frozen ice-lolly made from fruit juice? If chocolate will only do, have a very small bar and eat it veeeerrrrry slowly!
If you normally eat milk chocolate, try darker chocolate. 85%+ cocoa content. It's got less sugar in it and, if you're not used to it, you probably wouldn't be able to eat as much of it at a time anyway.
I like the Montezuma 100% cocoa (no sugar!), Lindt 90% and Green & Blacks 85%.
Dark chocolate's good for you. I have a cupboard full of it Mostly the 100% cocoa, but I eat the Lindt or Green & Blacks occasionally too.
Honestly sugar is a drug,junk food is a drug period,all the crap they put in it makes you want more once you get that first taste.
Best way to overcome sugar craving's,is just ride the wave,eventually it will pass,even better keep your mind busy,because the more you think of it,the more you will crave it.
Eventually once you have detoxed your self of that sugar,and the only sugar you get is what's left in the food you eat,then you should be ok.
Heya. Switching to dark chicolate is a good suggestion, its much less addictive but still satisfying. You can also easily make your own dark choc.
The cravings might also possibly be because your blood sugar is low? Thats when i crave sugar anyway- normally middle of night when i havent eaten for hours. To keep your blood sugar stable it helps to-
•Eat small healthy snacks- dont go too long without eating
•Eat low GI foods where possible ie. Protein, bit of healthy fat, veg, small/moderate amount of slow release carbs
•If you eat or drink something sweet have it after a meal as it will slow down the sugar release and stop it spiking your blood sugar
If youve done all these things it could be emotional eating, which is a bit of a challenge to get under control, trust me!
Im much better than i used to be as i moved to my own flat where im happier and calmer, so dont have as many emotional triggers to eat. Still have some though.
You might want to keep a diary which logs when you eat unhelpful foods, where you were, who you were with, what was happening at the time, and your emotions. Then you can see patterns to when you get cravings, with a view to removing the triggers, or finding alternative ways to cope with your emotions.

Oh also it def helps not to keep addictive milk choc in house (or any sweet addictive foods), although dark chocolate is handy as you can have a couple of squares in your porridge etc. I really like Lindt 80% dark choc, or try some of the better quality supermarket own brand ones, like Tescos Madagascan dark choc. Ok im off on a dark choc tangent now!
A final tip when you have a sweet craving is too eat some sweet fruit like half a mango first. Theyre still fairly high in sugar and cals, but alot healthier than milk choc or donuts etc. And will def take the edge off the craving.

I have found this product called Choc Shots and its a way of having your chocolate without actually having chocolate. It is made of only natural ingredients and is great for those who are gluten intolerant. They are made by a company called Sweet Freedom and contain far less calories than chocolate but taste fantastic. What is it about chocolate?? I'm sure there is something in it, once I have even teeny weeny taste I struggle to stop . . . I prefer to avoid completely 😕 Some people can cope with just a small amount as a treat but I find that really tough 😕 So for sweet treats I do the usual, fruit, dates, yogurt, even toast and honey for a treat 😊 But generally find if I have had enough to eat and had enough sleep I can avoid the blood sugar lows that fuel the cravings 😊 Good luck

I'm a chocoholic through and through and also trying to cut it out and recently read that the smell of Vanilla cuts down the cravings - no idea if it works but worth a try,

I have the same problem but having a savoury snack that I like seems to appease the craving for a strong hit of something sweet. At that moment its Promite on toast with butter (a treat for me and its not sugar) A thickened hot chocolate (with cornflour and added cocoa) hits the spot too without too many calories.
