Hi, Elizabella , welcome.

¿Is that the healthy BMI as suggested by the NHS website?

Their suggestions are subjective, generalised, estimated... and assume that one does not have much muscle... and there are other ways of calculating one's body fat percentage and healthy BMI/weight range.

I am an old man, and, for old men, some sites suggest a healthy range going up to BMI = 30.

Hi Elizabella and welcome. Sounds like you've made great progress to date but you're looking to make changes to get you to your goal.

The forum can offer you support, encouragement and maybe new approaches to help you. Come here regularly - I'd suggest 10-15 mins a day - read posts, get involved, chat to others, take everything in and decide what will be right for you.

I'd suggest as a first step the Daily Diary where we post our meal plans for the next day, usually calorie counted, though some people count carbs instead. You can get feedback on your own plans as well as pinching ideas from other posters. You'll find your way there if you follow the link Minniewinny has given you.

Try downloading MyFitnessPal for a breakdown of what you are eating. Cals are one thing but then just be wary of what's in them . I found a bit of tweaking actually helped . Get a bit of exercise daily even only half hour walk .

I walk an hour evert day and now trying to do 30 mins resistance training a couple of times a week. My big weakness is snacking so I'll try to cut that out. Thanks for your responses! I think I just need to adjust my lifestyle and over time I'll see results.

Not what you're looking for?
