Hello momeli and welcome to the forum 😊

Set yourself a plan and ditch the time scale - unless you want to lose 10kgs in three months and then put it back on again after :)

A good way to start would be joining a weigh in team. You'll get to know a very supportive bunch of people who will appreciate your support, too.

You'll find a list of all the forum activities here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

..... and this Newbie pack will help you find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

We also ask that you read this information about internet privacy and security healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I see your post isn't locked.

Take your time exploring and come back with any questions.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you become an active and supportive member of the forum 😊

Hi, momeli

As BridgeGirl says, it would be better to lose more slowly.

Do you need to get to a certain weight or size by a certain date, or can you reschedule?

Have you lost eight before?

Hello Momeli, I have joined yesterday for exactly the same reason, I need to lose 10kg by end of March and maintain it afterwards. Today is my first healthy day with a maximum of 1200 calories. How do you plan on losing 10kg? maybe we could support each other through this common goal. Good luck!

Where do you get the 1200 calorie figure from? Are you very short? If not, it will be too low for you and it won't help you lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way. You'll lose weight, sure, but your body will soon rebel, hold on to every bit of fat it can and you'll have no where to go with your calories.

Please put your details into this calculator and have faith in the calorie range it gives you. You will lose weight while eating more than 1200 calories (unless you are very tiny) nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...

Hello BridgeGirl and thank you for your concern, My BMI is 25.4, I am not tiny, I am 1m66 roughly 5ft4 or 5. I am 11 stone. I used two calorie counting apps and it was recommended 1200/1300 a day. Maybe I have misunderstood. any help would be appreciated. thank you

What range does the calculator above give you? Some, like MyFitnessPal are notoriously stingy. I'm only thinking of what will work for you medium to long term :)

Aim to lose 3.5kg

Recommended daily calorie intake:

1438 - 1848 kcal

To lose 1-2lbs a week stick to the lower end of the range.

sorry just saw the calorie ranges, however it will only allow me to lose 3.5 kg which is not my target, I want to loose 10kg in three months.

Well, it concerns me that you're putting this pressure on yourself but I wish you well with it. After you've got there, have a rethink about developing a way of eating that you can enjoy for life. :)

thank you, I do realise this is too little and not sustainable (I just have to be mindful of that)!

Hi! I’m glad to finally meet someone with great determination!

I plan to burn not less thank 800cal at least 5 times a week. Also incorporate intermittent fasting in my diet and of course eat more vegetables.

Let’s hear yours 😉

I have been eating very heathy food for a week and have lost 1kg in a week, however I have not managed to stick to 1200 calories, I get some hungry! so on average 1300/1400 calories a day but of really good food including fruit veg meat (mainly fish) and high fiber biscuits (to replace the sweet cravings). I have tried to stay away from carbs but seem to always hit the threshhold on my fitnesspal but generally through sweet potatos or occasional brown bread or brown pasta (small quantities). I have been drinking more water. on the downside I have on been to one gym session all week but it was a HIT session so pretty intense probably burning 350/450 in half an hour. I am not quite there to be honest and I really hope i reach my goal but i need to lower the calories more on days when not active. Oh yes and when I went gym i increased my food intake to 1600 calories that day to enjoy and not pass out also. How's your progress going?

Keep going hon. You’ll get there.

I work for a healthy lifestyle company and I’m a fitness motivator. But my diet is messed up. I’ve got my boss to do a meal plan so I’m so looking forward to it.
