Menopause - weight gain
I need to lose 1 and a half stone . I eat all the healthy things nothing processed but I don’t seem to be losing any weight can anyone help
Hi 726112 - my weight rocketed up after the menopause - apparently our metabolism changes and if you just carry on eating the same as ever then your weight is bound to go up.
I joined this forum and have participated quite a lot, it has really helped, I have lost almost 2 stone since June - I feel great and of course I look a lot better than I did!
I have done it through planning the calorie count of my meals, but others have different approaches, all depends what suits you. I was amazed at how many calories are in seemingly-innocuous foods and drinks. I am continuing to take part in the forum as I think keeping the weight off is going to be a lifelong project for me. I do the Daily Diary and a weekly weigh-in, and read (and sometimes respond to) other posts on and off.
Wishing you all the best!

I am not able to exercise as I suffer with fibromyalgia
I have literally tried everything nothing seems to work. It’s not the symptoms of menopause it’s the weight gain I have gained two stone
Hello and welcome 726112 😊. You sound like me, I always thought I ate healthily and couldnt understand why I was overweight. My issue was portion size and also following a low fat diet, with too many carbohydrates.
Please have a look at the links Moreless has given you, carbohydrates are no friend as go through the menopause, and you may also find a lower carbohydrate diet helps the fibromyalgia.
Good luck and best wishes
Indigo 😊
