Hi Fidlededee, why aren't you ecstatic about losing weight? Every single ounce of weight loss is a win, surely?!
not if you gain it back the next week. Which is generally what happens. Or has been happening for the last 10 or so years.
Time to stop dieting then, and find a healthy eating plan that works for you, for life I hope the forum can help you with that, alongside your local support
In reality I've never really started dieting even when I was trying to lose weight in weightwatchers. occasionally I lost and it helped originally at the beginning.
still not joining a different group though. It's mainly been about keeping on top of things and doing the minimum which by pure chance has sometimes got me through.
Oh dear, can you identify what's going wrong? Are you maybe going too low calorie, getting very hungry and eating but your body has gone into starvation mode and starts putting that weight right back on? My weight loss is very very slow but I know that keeping to the higher end of my calorie range on the BMI calculator (NHS website) and trying to move more - although I have my limitations there too - my loss is sustainable. I put on weight a little in the first few weeks but then started to lose it. I am also on lower carbs higher fat as bread in excess goes straight into my fat cells. It's all a question of what suits your body. I would definitely try the BMI calculator and take it from there. Hope this is of some help and wishing you well.
Hi Ali, Only just started to count calories so don't really know how many so far, but got a vague idea from looking at back of packets and haven't been over my limit, do get hungry particularly if meals are late as they often are when I go to my parents and have to stop my self snacking. Was working with weight watcher points before my meeting changed its time and I couldn't go. now with local meeting run by a local group and adjusting up to a point.
If you go to your parents for a meal which is later than you need to eat could you have some fruit or raw carrot to stave off hunger pangs? It sounds to me like you should be able to go to the leader of your local group with the difficulties you have and see what they say as well as using the information on this site. Does it sound like something you would have the confidence to do? I assume you pay for whatever it is and that payment will go to a group leader who pays rent on the hall the meeting is held in etc and is there to give advice. Let me know how you get on.
thanks, actually I saw her today, but she takes my Avon catalogue. Have started to graze fruit, nuts etc before main meal at parents already, usually some from the garden or just around.
That's a good move. Maybe wait until group meeting to ask group leader for her advice as she will probably appreciate you not way laying her while she's doing Avon. How are you feeling about it all now? Do you at least feel more in control of your eating?
I'm the one doing Avon, she's my customer.
Oh right, in that case maybe she won't mind!
Ha, either way really.
Gained again this week though but maybe I thought myself into it.
Did you take note of calories consumed this week? Writing it down usually helps identify any food choices that weren't healthy. What does the woman leading your weekly weight loss group say?
