Good morning everyone, I, as the title suggests have been a member for some time but never written a post before, I am 68 on Boxing Day, 5ft 2inches and current weight is 11st 7lb, I would like to lose a stone, anymore than that and I look gaunt, got down to 11st during the hot spell as salad was on the menu most days, but then went on a binge and back to my previous weight.

I consider myself fairly active, swim twice a week, and a yoga session. also have a dog which according to my phone app I walk between 2-3 miles a day, I have access to a large field.

I favour low carb eating as that works best for me, I use Carb Manager but having a few issues with that, I switched from MFP for similar reasons, I try to keep to below 50 carbs and 1200 cals a day. I cook from scratch most days I am a true carnivore and feel quite deprived if I have not had a good portion of meat, the fattier the better, I don`t mind the odd fish meal but not "fully satisfied"after, I am not a fan of rice or pasta so don`t miss those, I do like bread and the multigrain is my favourite, potatoes can be a hardship for me, so many meals are enhanced by a potato, even fish with a nice parsley/butter sauce is appealing with potatoes.

That`s all I think, looking forward to sharing daily trials and tribulations and the highs too of our joint struggle

I am looking for support with portion control.

Hi Pam

I'll be 68 the day after you! Like you I could do with losing a stone (or more). I can't offer much advice as I constantly struggle to lose weight myself but I'm sure other members will be able to help.

Interesting reading. I've looked back at my carbs on MFP and they're generally just under 200g a day. I'll try reducing them and see what happens.

Hi and welcome, pamsdish :)

I also favour low carb, but don't count calories. I think you're eating too little at only 1200 calories a day, when the NHS BMI calculator gives you a range of 1475 - 1901. I would advise you eat at the higher end and this will explain why

You're far more likely to slip off the wagon and binge, if you're hungry.
