I'm new, 34 and obese. I lost 3 stone last year for my wedding but have since piled weight back on....... I don't want to lose weight I want it gone for good and to be healthier. 5 stone to lose seems like an impossible task.

Motivation, 5stone to lose
Hello Ew83 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
I have found the best way is not to think about how far you have to go but treat each successful day as a victory 😊 Try to enjoy the process, plan healthy tasty meals and find some form of exercise you enjoy. There is plenty going on here to keep you occupied in idle moments!
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Best wishes
Anna
Welcome to the forum. You'll be inspired by the many people on the forum who jave lost that amount of weight and more. Their tips are to be active on the forum and set mini goals along the way. Best wishes for your success🎀
Hi Ew83 and welcome
I would set yourself small goals to start with eg 7lbs to lose as a first target and reward yourself with something like a new top or hairdo, whatever you wish, as a reward for achieving each target, which will keep you motivated.
I had four stone to lose when i joined this forum but have lost 2 stone already
You can do this and i wish you well on your weight loss journey
Welcome e Ew83 and great that you have joined with such a positive mindset; lifestyle change not diet.
There are loads of folk on here who have lost more than you want to lose.
Come on regularly, get to know people and be inspired.
Make food your friend not your enemy.
I have 10 to lose taking everyday as it comes cause if I don't it seems like mission impossible. Good luck 😉 xxx
Welcome!
You're not alone on that. I went on a crash diet for what seemed like 1 week. I was barely eating, only having around 1 meal a day, and drinking lots of water. I don't remember losing any weight. But, what I do remember is stepping on the scales a few weeks later, and seeing that I had put on over 1 and a half stones. Still struggling.
That's until I found this forum. You'll get lots of support here, tons of it.
If you want more info on why we gained our weight back, I'd suggest LessToLose's post called 'Eat More, Weigh Less - The Calorie Conundrum' healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
You can do it! Just give it your all and don't give up. We will all help you. I'm from USA and could you please tell me how much is a stone because most of you use that and I can't understand where your at. Sorry so naive.
Hi Hidden just to let you know there is 14lbs to every stone. Hope this helps you.
Hi Hidden
a stone is 14lbs, 6.35 kg. I need to lose a total of 31.75 kg. shocking but each lb at a time.
Hi Ew83 welcome to the forum, don't worry about how much you have to lose you will get there. Just worry about every day as it comes. Even if you fall off the wagon one day just re-start the next. I had 4st to lose when I joined so not much less but as others have said they have had more. No-one will ever think badly of you as we always back each other and will be just rooting you on to get to the end successfully. Take care and good luck with your journey, we are all behind you.
Hi Ew83 and welcome. My experience is that losing weight is easy. What is hard is wanting to do it and then changing your lifestyle for good. I know I am probably not explaining it very well! I was massively overweight for years and just got on with living my life, but late last year something just clicked in my head that made me want to change. I started my new lifestyle in January and have started to enjoy life again. I went to a concert last night, which never would have happened before. You sound really determined which is fantastic. So don't be afraid of the numbers. Make the changes and the weight will go. If you are interested, I started at 26 stone and got to 21 last week. Still a way to go, but I know I will get there. Good luck. James
Wow you are doing amazing well done.
I agree a total lifestyle change is needed for the weight to come off, to feel better and for it to stay off. I want to enjoy life and do things ive dreamed of. Sky dive is on my list when I have lost my target....
Good Luck
