Hello everyone, I have been trying to loose weight forever Aerobics twice a week. Yoga three times a week, nothing for 7 years. During that time I worked full time at work during Covid physically at work Key worker without a portfolio category. Anyway long story short ….. after tests for seven years and echo scans, ecgs even prescription off cardiologist which was stopped by doctors during Covid and told healthy to resume duties I have been told I have
Systolic heart failure……Symptoms of systolic heart failure include fatigue, shortness of breath, weight gain, and coughing.
Doctor stated if I wasn’t doing yoga and aerobics realising I was breathless etc they would never have taken notice because of the weight gain which is part of the symptom. it explains to me a lot over the years. Thankfully my doctor joined the hiit yoga classes and seen first hand how hard I was working.
During this time my asthma inhalers and lungs where being seen as the main issue Anyway I’m here, trying to lose Weight for surgery, so any help, guidance etc would be appreciated especially from a community who can advise and have experienced on the health issue too ❤️❤️❤️

Sorry to hear of your health concerns and while I can't give specific advice about them, I can say that generally, losing weight is far more to do with what you eat/don't eat rather than the exercise you do/don't do. You must have heard the old adage 'you can't outrun a bad diet', although exercise is absolutely necessary for health and well-being.
My advice would be to aim for 2 or 3 good meals a day, concentrating on real food and limiting processed food and snacking. This is a nice simple guide phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

You are currently doing what you need to do to lose weight so whilst it may feel like you are going backwards, slowing the gain is really still driving you forwards. Whilst I can't speak personally to your health issues, I can say... Don't stress. Stress weighs more than you would think. You are doing everything right, dieting, exercising and seeking mental & physical support. The mental support you will receive here is amazing and that support will help motivate you with the physical side of things that will help you to continue your efforts on this journey.
Hi JenWro, I feel your pain. Been there done that. I tried every diet under the sun and would manage to get my weight down to a 'reasonable' weight - BMI of around 26 - but then I would plateau, go on holiday and lose motivation until I had to buy the next size up in clothes. Covid lockdowns gave me the time to read. I came across HealthUnlocked and started looking at the LCHF (Low Carb high fat) way of eating. Then I stumbled across a book called the The Great Cholesterol Con - fascinating. Rangan Chatterjee's The 4 Pillar Plan - a very good all round approach to health, Michael Moseley's 5:2 Diet -a good intro to intermittent fasting. Jason Fung's Obesity Code - detailed info about fasting. Rangan and Fung amongst others, do great podcasts. The list of books goes on but these are all very readable. So now I follow a lowish carb way of eating with periods of fasting - I am currently at 29.5 hours into a fast and I broke the 10 stone barrier last week - the first time I have done that in decades. And I am intrigued now as to where my weight loss is going to go now.
Cutting calories and fat has never enabled me to lose weight and keep it off. (Have you ever noticed that the health care professionals who give you this advice are always overweight???) It was rubbish advice in the 70s - roughly when the obesity epidemic started - and it's still rubbish advice. I would urge you to do throw out all the 'slimming products' if you have any, stop snacking after your last meal in the evening, don't snack between meals and eat only real food. Don't use any 'foodstuffs' whose ingredients are unintelligible - that's not real food. Limit carbs. Then start reading and experimenting with different ways of eating to find which you like and can stick to. There's no point in continuing the same old same old way of 'dieting'. It hasn't worked before so it won't work now. It's not you who doesn't have enough will power. Start reading in the different Forums here. Best of luck!
