New to this site and joking into posts. Keen to find people suffering the same challenges and of course very keen to speak to those who are winning the battle. I am 60have recent had a heart scare, and remain about 8-9 stone over my supposed optimum weight. I I have tried, done well but ultimately failed so many times. I know my health and life quality suffer due to my size but still I can’t seem to stick it out. What have others done to make the difference. I have 3 grown up children and 4 wonderful grandchildren with one on the way that I adore. I want to be around longer to share more time with them.

Newbie man looking to kick start the weight loss journey
Hi. I can't give much advice atm as I only joined last night but thought I would reply so you know you are most def not alone! I too am over 8 stone above my 'ideal' weight, I have hereditary heart conditions in my family & I have times when I honestly know that my heart is under too much pressure and that's blooming scary! Just wanted to say I hope you do well on your journey and we're all here together x

Hello one of the co-coordinators will respond shortly and direct you to the Newbie forum to help guide you round the forum so you can get the full benefit from it. there are exercise challenges to help motivate, but also daily diet to help give advice on meals. People are on different weight loss plans- some with slimming world/weight watchers, some condition specific- diabetic, heart etc and other on calorie counting, pelos 5:2 and all its variations. There is no right or wrong way to loose weight as long as you can maintain it and are able to loose 1-2lbs per week then that is fine. I am using NHS 12 week weight loss plan which is a mix of calorie counting and life style changes which I found effective but I had only 2 stone to loose.
Look on the NHS BMI calculator and that work out your daily calories required to loose weight- if you don't eat enough you can gain weight since your body goes into stravatu=ion mode and stores everything as fat!
Good luck
Hi Dave and welcome. Have a good look around and get involved. Good luck with it. James
Welcome Dave.
Like James40Cheshire has already said, get involved. You've already shown to yourself that you can lose weight and without a doubt, being involved here is going to help you do that but more so, it will help you keep it off.
